Bright Red light on chopper overhead, WTF is it?

Discussion in 'General' started by The Hermit, May 9, 2011.

  1. I observed a helicopter with a white underside going back and forth in the general area over a street and residential area. It had a white light on one side and on the other side with where the door would be a bright red light was visible. Is that wtf I think it is? Anyone have knowledge regarding IR cameras and what they look like deployed? :hide:

  2. Runnnnn!!!!!! Salvage what you can and run!!!

  3. pretty damn sure that is indeed an infared helicopter thing...

Did it look something like this?: [IMG]

  4. Yes, looks very similar. the light on the side is where the red one was. It hovered back and forth and overhead, then left.

Doubtful it would see 2 cfl bulbs and an led amidst other bulbs in that room.

    Left without incident. Motherfuckers.

  5. Opinion on evasive action required? Or just normal chopper activity?

  6. cops bro eat that shit.

  7. If you don't have a hot exhaust exiting your house, then you are fine. Or rooms where temperature is much higher.

A flir camera cannot see inside your house. It detects the heat around your house, and off the walls of your house.

Wouldn't worry too much. Just look for other suspicious activity.

  8. No, none of that. Just a room with some bulbs that aren't even hot. They can suck this hairy nut!! Thanks yall.

You're fine. They cant FLIR your house and use it as evidence that you might have a grow in your house, not without a search warrant. This is applicable to the entire country, thanks to supreme court case Kyllo v. United States, 533 U.S. 27 (2001). Read more here.

And lets face it, if they had a search warrant, it wouldnt be to fly millions of dollars of equipment over your house, they'd just bust down your front door.

EDIT: If they actually stopped and hovered over your house, then i still might be a little worried.

  10. Personal CFL grows aren't going to gain any heat attention. Could be a computer, refrigerator, AC unit, etc... etc...

  11. They flew over the neighborhood and hung out for a while, passing overhead a couple of times but did not ever stop overhead. If they had, I would be more concerned. I never got the impression of being specifically targeted. But the red light was an obvious red flag to me to be aware. If I had MH or HPS bulbs, I would have turned them off...but CFLs and an LED,...I'm thinking no way they could spot that.

In any case, I remain vigilant.

  12. Anyone ever realize all planes and choppers have a red light??

  13. Those are military. This was not, and of all the choppers I have seen, none flew low and over the neighborhood w/ a bright red light. Paranoia can save your ass but complacency will get you fucked.

  14. I've seen planes and helicopters around here that actually flash red and blue lights, like a police car. Guess they want to be obvious about it? Definitely police aircraft based on the situations lol
