Breezer's 1st grow: RQS Northern Lights Auto in Coco

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by BreezerSpirit, Nov 5, 2023.

  1. First timer here, want to document the grow. This one is really about learning the ropes and so any outcome is a good outcome. Probably haven't picked the easiest road but what better way to learn :metal:

    Setup
Royal Queen Seeds - Northern Lights Auto
    Coco Coir - 70% coco, 30% perlite. Pre-buffered.
    Grow tent - 40cm x 40cm x 120cm (Yeeep nice and small)
    Autopots 15l pot (new 9mm lines) + res - H&G drip clean
Canna A + B nutrients, CalMag (just in case, have super hard water here though)
Carbon filter on exhaust for odour control, negative pressure on tent
Small oscillating fan to ensure plant movement for stem strength and to help with air circulation because of the small tent size.
Bluelab PH pen - Aiming to keep the res at 5.5ph from research of other grows

Paper towel method for germination, started it at 9am yesterday morning then had it in a sandwich bag in my pocket all day. Tap root showing as of this morning.

I've put the seed in a plastic cup with coco lightly covered and a humidity dome, enough water (no nutes yet) to keep the seedling slightly damp. It's in the tent to keep it warm as it is winter here. Have the lights on but at a low intensity just to get some warmth in the environment and to give the seedling something to grow toward.

Will report back in a week with some pictures and hopefully a small happy plant!

  2. sounds like a plan but in the future i dont recommend the bag in the pocket thing it could kill the taproot a heatmat is a worthwhile investment i use a regular heating pad from the pharmacy

  3. I hadn't thought about the potential damage to the seed, noted! I'll pick one up next run for sure.

  4. i just had 6 out of 6 seeds sprout i use the paper towel plate method with a heatmat they all are officially plants now
