Breaking Apart by hand vs Grinding

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Imperative, Oct 12, 2010.

  1. So I'm gunna have my buddy roll a j for us tomorrow, and I was wondering: should we have a grinder? or is picking apart bud as effective/good enough for a good joint. Tips please :D (I'm fairly new to joints, I usually go pipes/bongs)

  2. Grinder, you get kief and plus your hands wont absorb some of the danky greatness from the bud. Just grind it semi-lightly so that the chunks wont be really fine and powdery [harder to roll, easier to scooby snack]

  3. I grind everything up. Just makes it easier for me and the kief is a plus too.

  4. Why wouldn't you always use a grinder??

  5. Grinder would be best, so the kief doesn't stick to your fingers. If it's not seedy, then cutting
it up with scissors and a small bottle works just as good.

  6. I bust my bud by hand all the time, the amount of THC lost isn't really significant in the end.

Unless you're rolling the dankest of the dank, and in that case, what the hell are you doin rollin' dank into a joint?

  7. all the THC lost is significant to me man! :)

Plus, I want kief! Its also quicker and more efficient. And with dank, you dont need 2 joint it, but you can put it in a bong, ect.

  8. Thanks guys, I think I'm just gunna bring a pipe now that you tell me not to roll with good bud. I'm getting some pretty sweet sativa, so I guess I wouldn't wanna roll that? lol. Good to know, thanks for the help. I'll make sure to have a grinder for future joint sessions, but as for the keif, what do you use it for? Hash/On top of bud/etc

  9. unless you a poor cheap bastard, roll that shit, light that shit, and smoke it.

  10. marginally poor, marginally cheap, def. a bastard :p
Would shake be good for joints btw? I have like probably a gram and a half worth, which sounds like 2 nice joints to me.

  11. A lot of people will tell you don't roll dank into joints, I don't really follow that. To me there's nothing more relaxing than smoking a nice J of some dank.

Shake will work just fine, I always grind when I'm rolling - otherwise breaking it up by hand is fine.

  12. Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. +rep for the quick, easy answer.:hello:

  13. i've been breaking weed for about 5 years lol. and today i actually used a grinder to grind up some bud before i rolled a blunt.

It rolled up easier for me, so now im getting a grinder after my THC break.

  14. As far as grinders, what's a good amount to spend on one? I don't have one and I guess I should invest in one from the reactions to my question. Where should I get it, what should I get, how much should I spend?

  15. I'd get a mendo mulcher, i think they are like $30

  16. Why roll a joint when you can roll a blunt? Thats my question.

  17. Ebay is a good bet. Just go search for either Sharpstone or Spacecase. As far as I'm concerned - buy the best (30-40 dollars) and never worry about needing another grinder.

You will want one that has a chamber at the bottom for catching kief. (on Ebay it's called a 'pollen catcher' for legal reasons)

  18. Does it have a keif catcher?

  19. Either of those companies make some that do and some that don't. You'll be able to tell immediately when you look at the auction page.

  20. Is there anything I should watch out for? IE: Aluminum?
