No I don't like that show. Those people arent even true amiss and give amish people a bad name. I live around tons of amish and have amish friends so I know that show is pure fake hollywood
I never watched the show, but there are a ton of Amish and Mennonites around where i live. i don't entirely agree with their lifestyle choices, but have a lot of respect for them (and they have great produce!). As mentioned, true Amish would never even associate with a pathetic "reality TV show." It's fucking disgusting. A few years ago, a man (this was pretty close to me) went into an Amish schoolhouse and murdered several children before killing himself. The entire Amish community attended his funeral to pay respect, even after he had just brutally killed several of their children. They seem to have a deeper understanding of life than the average Joe, even if it is largely based on religious views I don't entirely agree with.
ya the show is quite exaggerated... like they kind of took their life stories & turned them into a show. they had all moved out & done most of that stuff before the show was thought up. they just acted like it was all new to them, even though they left that lifestyle months/years ago. still quite interesting to see the culture shock. even though it was half fake as shit...
Fuck this show... The real Amish of PA provide me with baller grass-fed meat and raw milk, high-quality eggs, and delicious produce. They are great people. I also get the occasional baked good from them and believe me when I tell you everything they sell tastes like PURE SEX
