Brazillian Jiu Jitsu

  1. Just joined a club that offers mostly brazillian jiu jitsu training with a couple MMA and wrestling classes mixed in aswell. Three classes in I feel a lot more positive and am quickly developing a passion for this :)

This is great because i've been wanting to get in shape but the gym isn't really for me, and with this they push you hard with situps, pushups, pretty intense cardio, then grappling and sparring training then we do it all again and have some fun :D

Anyone else involved in a martial arts club?

  2. Just joined a BJJ gym yesterday. I start classes Tuesday, Monday-Friday. So stoked for it to begin.

  3. yeah dude that sounds legit, it kicks your ass at the beginning especially if your not in shape your gonna be sore trust me on that one, but its a hell of a workout and fun as hell

  4. I do jiu jitsu and boxing at the moment! I have a standup background (kickboxing), but just started grappling. I might try wrestling instead of boxing next year to improve my grappling game. I never thought i would enjoy grappling as much as the standup game, but i was so wrong. When you grapple you can go 100%, you can't do that in standup. GRRRWWAAAAAPPPPPLLLLIIIIINNG! NOGI!
    I love martial arts!

  5. I just joined a mauy thai and kickboxing gym!
I have been doing classes of strictly muay thai for the past 3 weeks now and am loving it! Although im suffering severe withdrawels symptoms on non-training days :(

3 times a week at the moment, really enjoying it

  6. I hear ya there man, I hate waiting for the next class :( passions ftw

  7. did wrestling in high school....really miss the aggression release. The heavy bag and weights and runs just arent enough, I wanna join some martial arts place but...well....shit, no damn time!

  8. I did Muay-Thai but I had to quit because I got two really bad concussions in quick-tip session. Did it for about a year, was a fighting machine.

  9. I study bjj, both gi and no gi. Its pretty frustrating at first I was gettin my ass kicked for the first 6 months. Its also a mindfuck, its opens your mind, helps you think and live better, teaches leverage over strength. Its really changed my life. Stick to it and dont give up.

  10. Sounds awesome! I want to get into some sort of martial arts club but don't have the time or money for it. I'm busy with school Mon-thurs then work fri-sun :(

When I was in HS a bunch of kids did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and while they didn't have anything to show for it, I think the were just hung up on the name.

"hey guy's look at me, I take Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes!"

  11. Been doing BJJ for about a month now, it is very interesting. Always something to learn and the environment is so positive, it's all about respect, discipline, and fun. Are camp is implementing American wrestling soon and we have MMA fighters, Muay Thai is also an amazing art as well. But BJJ 4 Life!!

  12. Just a little fact of interesting knowledge, remember the sitcom Married With Children, the dad Al Bundy (Ed O'Neil) is a black belt in BJJ under Rorion Gracie, trippy haha

  13. BJJ is the shit, ima little guy so this is teaching me to overcome the fact that most people have AT LEAST like 20-30 pounds on me (I'm 5'3 120 lbs)

I find that pot and BJJ dont mix though. I can't think straight and the more sobered up I am the better I can focus and spar.

Also BJJ is the absolute best workout IMO. Your getting the benifits of signaling to your body that it needs to get stronger and as long as you feed it right you will. Personally i'm not into bodybuilding, but BJJ gives you a much more natural workout and you find yourself using muscles you didn't even know you had.

So in basicly you get stronger while learning how to fight people who are still stronger than you. Win motherfuckin win. There's nothing more pathetic than an akward muscle head getting his ass whooped.

This winter once I get back home i'm gonna take bjj + muay thai. Right now i'm just doing BJJ like once or twice a week.

  14. Today I made a guy tap out for the first time! I feel like superman!
