So on the 15th of April 2018 I'll fly out of LAX (Los Angeles Ca.) to CLT (Charlotte NC.) and meet up with TTS for his road trip back to Southern California. I've got my master list of Giant Plaster Dinosaurs to see along Interstate 40. Hopefully we can make Ashville NC. the night of the 15th. The general plan is to see part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Tail of the Dragon, and work our way Southeast to Chattanooga TN. and ride the Incline Rail up Lookout Mountain. Northeast from there and stop and see an old friend on the way to Nashville and pick up the I40 again and make tracks West. Is there anything worth stopping for in Ak. or Ok or Tx ?? LOL we'll find something. Ohh wait. More of the general plan means we need to make Trinidad CO. the night of the 19th where I have a 2 night reservation in one of the local fleabag hotels. 4-20 will be spent seeing the local shops and dispensaries in the lovely town of Trinidad. With some 11 Cannabis shops to see I don't think we'll have any trouble finding meds. MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm Whip that Veterans card out. Leaving Trinidad we'll head west in CO to Durango and take the winter ride on the Durango Silverton Narrow gauge Rail. No real plan for the last leg of the trip as we don't have to be anywhere anytime soon but by then my plant spidey sense will be all in full alarm mode and I'll be all antsy to get back. More to come. BNW
Last time I was in Texas it was out the I 10 from Los Angeles to San Antonio and back but that was half a lifetime ago. BNW
Packing it all in a carry-on sized 22x14x9 inch case is gonna be challenging. I need a vacuum space bag for the Winter coat as it wants to fill the space all on it's own and the wife seems determined to get it all in the case. I can just carry or wear the jacket dear. Shut-up it'll fit. You don't have a clue on how to pack. So I went over there and sat down. I fear my suitcase will explode like an overstuffed Jack-in-the-Box when I get to TSA and I'll never get it closed again. Should I bring a few straps for when I'm done with TSA ? It was closed before you fucked with it !! God only knows what she's packing. I'm a guy I could get it all in a lunch pail. And still have room for the thermos. Change of clothes ?? HUH. Underwear ? WTF ? Next thing I'll find some pajamas in it. BNW
Brass this is awesome!!!! I love NC one of my favorite states to ride threw try shooting the Cumberland gap following a oversizeload thats 16&1/2' wide during a thunderstorm not being able to see anything but his tail lights hahaha that trip was nuts... I was thinking in Arkansas there is a place where you can dig for gold also Emerald Mountain was really beautiful if you go by that area, awesome idea for 420, I'm surprised you didn't shoot for Pueblo CO, it's closer to the border and personally i liked the shops there better... although i felt safer in Trinidad, i always find the flower really dry in CO but they have amazing concentrates and great prices on said concentrates that to even come close i gotta take a 4+ hour drive to Detroit for.... this is soooo cool, I'm pulling up a chair i cannot wait for pics have fun!!!! If your doing Texas near the Cadillac ranch.. all those ol cars it's pretty cool. Been by there several times. There's also a giant cross right near it. I was always told it's the largest one in the area... No idea the validity of that. However, if you go through a town called shamrock they got a good little ma n pa dinner. Right along the road and will fill up a cup or thermos. They also have decent food. They also have an old gas station with pumps out but not working. Pretty cool tbh. If your near Cameron MO I can tell you they have a great ma n pa dinner named just that with .25 coffee. Hutchison KS I think is where the mushroom rocks are. Sent from my pet rock.
As my dear departed Mother would say I've got a severe case of the Can't Hardlys. Can't Wait to get Going. Looked at the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Seems my planned stop in Tenn is right in the center of about 8 large and small distillers. We can waste a day here and drive straight through Oklahoma and make up the lost time if needed. Got an experimental distiller right in Chattanooga where we stop anyhow so that one would be a natural hit. Edit:: 29 hours till the van picks me up and we start the Adventure !! BNW
19 hours till the van whisks me away to LAX and the start of the fun. Sigh. Woke up a dozen times thinking it's the sun but it's just the city lights in the window. BNW
Landed at 10:30AM my time. 1:30pm local time and headed west to Ashville where we currently are. Torrential rain from Charlotte to here. Tucked into the local flea bag and we'll go do some market shopping for teeth breshes and paste and other sundries we are missing. Likely grab some dinner while we are out and about. BNW
Up early and on the road we headed for the Blue Ridge Parkway only to get some 30 miles before hitting a locked gate and back tracking 8 miles. Finally just hit hwy 74 and headed for Chattanooga TN for our next stop. Back on a semi main road we hit snow at the 3500 ft elev in the Appalachia mtns. Back down to more reasonable elevations. This is river rafting central with dozens of company lining the rivers. BNW
Getting into Chattanooga we made tracks for the reason we came. The Lookout Mountain Incline. 8 minutes for the trip. Got Video but it's still uploading. I'll post it and a few other a bit later. Stopped and saw an old friend outside of Murfreesboro tn then headed north toward Nashville and picked up I40 again and headed for Memphis TN. Stopped a 100 miles short in Jackson TN. Home of Casey Jones we'll head over to the display again in the daylight. Had dinner in the complex at Brook Shaw's Old Country Store. BNW
