ok so this is like the 3rd time i have come to m plant and one of the branches is barely hanging on by a lim and the leaves are all dried up... wtf is this? do you think it could e an animal but why would they leave it there once it snaps? there is no bite marks or anything on the stems... so basically a would-be big ass cola is just laying dead amongst the others, all leaves are dry b/c it died.... WHAT IN THE FUCK IS HAPPENING ...someone help please
I had this happen to me too. I believe it was my fault though. I think the branch got hung inside my shirt sleeve cuff. I saw it within 5 or 10 minutes. So believe it or not I tied the branch back up with some string to my stake, that held it up. Then I wrapped it at the stalk (main stem) where it was broke and in about a week and a half it had healed back enough to support itself. It is now growing a knot where it was once broke and growing strong, it's even full of buds!!! So if you catch broken branches in time they CAN be saved!!! I know this might not help you now. Could be several causes of broken branches. Weight, if large buds are on it, birds, or some other wildlife, you could have possibly done it yourself and didn't even know it just as I did. Just remember if you catch it early enough it can be saved!!
I might be a little late on this, but I have had the main stem break near the top. It was my fault for hanging something on it to bend it down so it wasn't hitting the light. So what I did was got a paper towel, moistened it RO water and a small dash of Bloom formula, then wrapped the broken spot with the paper towel then put a small strip of duct tape around to seal the wound and make sure the paper towel doesnt come off when it dries out. About 3 weeks later I removed the bandage and it seemed to heal it self quite well. It didnt hermie on me from stress (thank god), but I am sure the longer you wait to do something, the more painful it is for the plant to endure. Just get some support on those branches if they're filling up with weight and you should be fine. And if it keeps happening, you may have a calcium def. Good luck!
You got squirrels round near you? ive not got em on mine an we do have quite a few round here, so i dont think theyre attracted to them... just an idea.
