Brain Cells -- Not Lack of Willpower

  1. Brain cells -- not lack of willpower -- determine obesity, study finds

This is pretty interesting. Obesity may be caused by predisposition, passed on through birth like other diseases and disorders. However, I also believe obesity is due to blame on personal responsibility and how cheap bad food can be.

But if obesity is now being passed through genetics and caused by poor diet in society today,
does that mean it's going to get worse?

  2. It may certainly be contributing to gaining weight, but in the end, a healthy diet with exercise is all it takes(excluding special cases.) Not a valid excuse for being obese IMO.

  3. good diet with good moderation is what we are built for. people need to stop looking for excuses and start getting to already existing solutions.

  4. this.

  5. Some people are predisposed to obesity, but not all of them become obese. Some people are predisposed to being brilliant, but not all are. None of us have every genetic advantage, but you're stuck with the body you have, so its up to an individual to decide how to use it.

Also, rodents don't have information at their disposal or the capability to understand long term actions, humans do. Its a valid experiment to show that obesity is an acquired trait, but its not an excuse for people to be obese.
