Boy has stunned medics with his ability to see in pitch black.

  1. A boy has stunned medics with his ability to see in pitch black with eyes that glow in the dark.

Doctors have studied Nong Youhui's amazing eyesight since his dad took him to hospital in Dahua, southern China, concerned over his bright blue eyes.

Dad Ling said: "They told me he would grow out of it and that his eyes would stop glowing and turn black like most Chinese people but they never did."

Medical tests conducted in complete darkness show Youhui can read perfectly without any light and sees as clearly as most people do during the day.

  3. Yeah it was from earlier this year I believe. Didn't see anything back here on it so thought it was worth a share. Is there more to this story? Does anyone know the science behind him being able to see in the dark?

  4. Hmm well they made lots of references to him having 'catlike' eyes.. Maybe somewhere down the line cat genes were slipped into him during pregnancy.. EIther that or aliens man.. You decide..

on a more serious note, blue eyed people see better in the dark and have more trouble dealing with very bright light

  7. Dam, exactly the same thing for me, and I have blue eyes. Thanks for the info, and I must admit this story is pretty cool :hello:

  13. I can't count how many times this would have been useful while rolling up in the car. . .

  14. Ah i have blue eyes and when I go out into bright sunlight after being inside for a while I'll sneeze twice. I swear to you all that it's called ACHOO Syndrome

I can see in the dark pretty well but obviously not like that, oh man how sick that would be though

  15. Maybe his mum ate heaps of fried-cat whilst pregnant?...

  16. Yeah, I don't believe for a second that this kid has the eyeballs of a cat. That would be far from possible. But maybe he has something else 'wrong' with his eyes which is causing this. I guess it could be a hoax. It's in the media / on the internet after all. I can't seem to find any follow up reports on this kid.... Hmmm

  17. This explains so much!

  18. I have blue eyes and hate sunlight.. I can see better at night than most people I know. One thing though, blue neon lights are blurry to me at night. Like the image will sharpen up if I squint and I can read other colored neon lights with no problem. Mine also change color though, sometimes bright blue, dull blue, a grayish looking color, and sometimes they look a lil green.
