Boxes of weed?

  1. I was thinking of actually growing inside a couple of fixed up old cardboard boxes. I'd just paint it white inside and grow in there and maybe lift the box once a day for ventilation. i'd probably place hanging cfl's with the cords running underneath the box. I'll reinforce the boxes a little so that it won't crash on the plants. i don't think it's a bad idea. what bout you guys?

and i'll be LST inside of course. They're fairly big boxes left over from moving.

  2. might wanna think about it in a fire hazard way, carboard goes up like whoa, and it would get mighty hot and humid in there without a fan.

  3. virtually no risk of fire with a cfl. hps on the other hand in a box would be bad news. i use a 3 ply box as a clone/veg area. works great.

  4. dont use a cardboard .. its common sense lol

  5. I agree, its an aweful risk you'd be taking, fires in homes cause destruction and death, be hell to go to jail for life just to grow a little weed.

IStandAlone it really is a bad idea, think about it, bulbs break/explode all the time and when that happens you might as well have placed a couple of bare wires in your grow.

Better off getting some 1x2 or 2x2 and building a frame and then stretch some black and white poly over it.

  6. ^^good point. but the power strip i have will throw a fuse if the wires arc out, so for now i'll leave it until i have more $ for a proper clone box. but if you think about it, wood is just as flammable as cardboard. and i just remembered i have some aerosol fire-retardant spray. i'll have to coat it with that shit. thanks for the heads up though.

  7. Why not just buy a big rubber maid tub?

  8. i was actually thinkin about doing this myself and start exploring the world of clones, i had a nice cfl setup drew up but im still contemplating the idea...i highly doubt the boxes would catch on fire with cfls..

  9. actually i found a 3' wide x 2' high x 18" deep wooden chest in my attic. you can bet that fucker will be modified to be a cloner!!

  10. water and cardboard dont mix. i know where ur coming from but u might as well get the rubbermaids like buddy above suggests or maybe an outdoor storage bin. If u get the proper type of box it can easily be done. if u dont want to spend the money on a good enclosure u arent ready for it. add up the estimated cost of ur 1st grow, then triple it cause it aint cheap.
