  1. well, as some of you may remmeber I got a new dog a while back. I just have to rant about this bitch she chews on the fucking BASEBOARD of my house, pulls up carpet, rips my couch, then to top it off AFTER she's been potty trained she pee's on my bed. This is the fourth or fifth fuckin time shes peed on my shit. and I'm done with it. I just want to hit her so hard but I can't. I don't know what to do to get her to stop but its gotten me SO FUCKIN MAD:mad:.

anybody have any dog training tips? I really don't want to abandon her, she's had that happen once, but I have NO CLUE what to do now:rolleyes:

  2. I got my dog trained at petsmart, they have classes and stuff and you do it with the dog, its pretty fun and it works well.

  3. How old was she when you got her?

  4. dont give up mayne.

  5. I know it's hard mate, but two things

    1) You can't hit her
    2) You can't abandon her like you said.

Just can't do that shit, that don't fly. However, I know it's not easy to control an unrully dog... try finding some training. And if all else fails, last resort, find her someone who can take a rambunctious dog. maybe someone out on a farm with lots of land? Because this dog may love you, and abandoning her would kill her. Plus giving her away could serious be sad to her if she does love you, so try to do that as a last resort.

But I know, sometimes a specific dog just doesn't fit in with your life style... but there is no reason to be inhumane.

  6. yea.. blame it on the dog:D haha jk

what you should try to do is right after she does something that you dont like, show her that you dont like it at all by either screaming, slapping, whatevers necessary. make sure its right after she does it because dogs forget after a while. because if you punish her later on, she wont know what shes being punished for. hope that helped

  7. Only thing to do, is to yell..or take it to a training class..

  8. i used to work at a vet hospital best advice either
1 buy some spray they sell at the pet stores its usually for keeping them off biting their feet or something spray at around the boards prolly not gonna happen cuz its messy but iim hish so bare with me
2 get a ballon blow it up to a good size and show it to the dog then and while hes looking pop that bitch, then get more ballons the same color and just tape a few to the boards in like a day or two prolly the more the better take them off and that dog wont fuck with them boards id type more but im buzzed pm for more my boss was the tech manager and he was a dog trainer on the side he taught me alot

  9. One word: patience. You need oodles of it when raising a puppy. I tore my hair out once or twice, too, but now I'd never be without him. You just need to apply some simple psychology, and spend more time with her. These months are crucial to her development; the way you train her now will determine the kind of dog she will become.

Do you work, or leave her alone? If so, this is why she chews so badly; it's called seperation anxiety, and is perfectly normal for a puppy. It's a sign of her distress. It really isn't fair to get a dog if you can't spend time with it; they are pack animals, and they need to bond with their owners, like a child would. She is bored and lonely. They need order and authority. She has no leader right now, no 'alpha'. You need to be that for her, or she will always try and dominate you, and that will cause you problems. There is no point at all in shouting at a dog when you return from work, hours after she has done the damage; she will have no idea why you are shouting at her, and this will make her nervous and insecure, potentially making her aggressive, and stress-incontinent.

One simple psychological rule with puppies is: ignore the bad behaviour and reward the good behaviour. Always have treats in your pockets, so when she goes to the toilet in the correct place, you can praise and reward her. Dogs crave attention, and rather like children, they do not care if this attention is positive or negative. To this end, every tome you shout at a dog for peeing or chewing, you are giving it attention, and to the dogs mind, rewarding it's inappropriate behaviour.

How old is she? Is she spayed? What breed?

As for the toilet training, again, you need to be around all the time while doing this; if you are not, accidents will happen. Four or five slip-ups is really not that bad.

Whatever happens, please, please do not raise your hand to her; this can only result in more problems for the poor creature. She is just being a dog, and being a baby, and to punich her for this would be exremely unfair. If you think you are getting to that stage, do her a favour and send her to the RSPCA. Beaten dogs are unhappy, insecure, aggressive, and erractic dogs, who often have to be destroyed as they have become un-rehomeable.

Fel free to PM me for more; my uncle is a dog behavioural therapist and has trained police dogs etc, so what I don't know I can ask fairly readily.

    Good luck...to both of you.

  10. Patience my friend and you need to spend lots of time with her. When training a pup, you need to wake them up after napping for awhile and immediately take her out to relieve herself. Like Grenouille said reward good behavior and ignore bad. Have tons of stuff fro her to chew and play with, they get bored quickly and her life right now is eat, sleep and play. They are like babies, alot of responsibillities. Good luck brother.

  11. This is kinda a cruel thing to do.. but i have seen it work. My old dog pissed on the carpet and my dad got pissed that it still didn't understande. so he grabbed it and grabbed my dogs head and put it close to the stain and he just yelled at it... no lie the dog never pissed in my house ever again! and she loved my dad so much. So although it seems alil cruel i think the dog gets the point.

I got a new dog and we potty trained it by putting it in a cage... u shud try that if ur dog is still young

  12. It isn't just cruel, it is ineffective. A dog cannot understand shouting, it merely understands the emotion conveyed in the words. This method teaches the dog to associate going to the toilet as a 'bad' thing, and often results in more accidents as the dog is then confused, and will often toilet surreptitiously, or have accidents because he is scared to go at all at the proper times.

It is your responsibility as an owner to teach the dog where and when he should be going to the toilet; this means keeping a close ey on him at all times, in order to get to know the signs that he is ready to go. If your back is turned, and he makes a mistake, it isn't his fault, and you should not blame him.

  13. actually for u to say INEFFECTIVE is just stupid... especially after it worked. So maybe there is one exception.. my old dog Scrappy. But its cool i got to see it work first hand.

  14. i have a new dog that i love with all my heart (shitzu named angel) and if she was to piss on the floor thats HER fault. She knows hosw to communicate with us... She can stand by the door where someone will let her out or she runs up to someone and smacks the floor by ur feet. I think she pised on the floor once, it was her fault... not ours. but its ok she pisses like a tablespoon.

  15. Gosh; another person getting out of their pram, simply because they don't agree with me, or are failing to grasp the concept.

What is wrong with you people?

It may have worked, but it is comparitively ineffective because she probably only learnt through fear; this is not the way to train a dog to best effect. Positive reinforcement, and being responsible enough to keep an eye on your dog and learn from each other is way healthier, for both parties. Knowing how to communicate, and being able to hold it's bladder are two very different things; puppies cannot control their bladders that well, like human babies. Hence, you shouldn't punich accidents if you were not there to prevent them.

But what the fuck do I know? I am, after all, 'stupid'.

  16. ^^^^^

Absolutely not. I agree with all that you have said Le Grenouille.

I myself have recently gotten a puppy and its all about paitence.

I know that its gotta be hard cause you have to go to work and such, but when you are home take the dog outside every 30 min. If you are able to do this as much as you can, your dog will learn to do her thing outside. Always reward her because thats the only way that she'll learn.
As far as the whole chewing bit, my dog chews too...alot...but thats also a puppy thing too..depending on her age, it might have to do with teething but im no expert. Puppies chew. Plain and simple.

Good luck and I hope the potty training goes well. :D

  17. watch the dog whisperer

    caesar milan explains everything

  18. I crate train all my dogs that Ive had. It works well, and my dog now never has accidents.

I would try to take a class with the dog, to learn some tips from a trainer.

  19. Yeah, a crate is a really good idea, and if you get a big enough one, and make it comfy, doggie will soon get used to it, and even enjoy her new little corner of the World.

We got one for Little Man when the chewing got bad, and it was the best thing we ever did. Just give her lots of attention when you get in, she'll forgive you!

  20. you should read Cesar's Way by Cesar Millan. the guy's a genius and his book helped me with my dog alot.
