Hello growers, I accidentally bought a led light way too strong and I decided the best solution is to cover a part of it because I still want to use it

the tent is 0.6x0.6x1.5 meters or 2x2x5 ft
max distance I can get from plant to light is 1m or 3.2ft
and the specs of the light are
    • Mastergrow 2000w
    • LEDs: 200PCS Diamond 10W
    • Actual Power consumption: 250W-260W
    • Coverage Area: about 5.4 x 5.8 Square Feet
    • Lumen:24962.00lm

does anyone know what distance I should put it at and how many of the leds should I cover?
any other ideas are also appreciated.

  2. It's not too strong. You're right where you should be for a 250w light.

  3. Don't cover anything, adjust the intensity by either raising or lowering the light. Or use the dimmer if your light has one.

  4. actually I don't know what the right distance is. I just assumed it was too much because I bought the biggest option and my last plant died. how can I figure it out apart from asking the seller?

  5. Photone app for your phone, it's free and accurate. 300-500 PPFD for veg, up to 900 for flower (more if using supplemental CO2).

  6. heres something that will shake your boots

    good luck

par is used in measuring LEDs not Lu

  7. 30 to 35 watts of LED lighting per square foot of grow space is the requirements

  8. yes and he is UNDERpowered. He has approx 31 sq feet(5.4x5.8 sq ft?) and 260 watts which is approx 8 watts per sq ft. What am I missing here? OP says 5.4x5.8 coverage area......

  9. only lumen was specified not par unfortunately

I apologize for the confusion 5.4x5.8 sq ft is the light specs, my tent is 0.6x0.6x1.5 meters or 2x2x5 ft

  10. A 250W LED is not powerful...
For a 0.6x0.6m tent it's fine, but only 1.5m high?
Between pot and plant, you will have to make dwarf plants, put them directly into flowering...

  11. 2x2 = 4 square feet requires 120 to 150 watts

  12. yes the op clarified what he meant by 5.4x5.8. The light is a little bigger than the footprint needs. If he can raise it and he cant dim it then he will have to cover some of it which means he will be using his light as a heater as well.

  15. yeah I agree seedright. Need a picture bc at 1 meter high with 1/2 the LEDs covered, I would not expect light burn.

  16. I run a small 2'x2'x5' tent too. I normally run a QB135 rpsec light in it. I have tried a QB260 V2 in that tent, without the ability to dim your fixture you will burn your plant. Changing your tent size or light would be the only option I would suggest. I even cut the floor out of my tent so my pot soil line sits level with the floor of the tent. Even that would not help you with that light. You simply have too much light for that small tent. More is not always better. BTW. I pull an average of 3-1/2 to 5 ounces from that little tent and it has not been shut down in three years. It runs perpetual and grows in an organic medium. Yield varies due to the strain I run. 20240217_095037.jpg
