bought a 400w hps from htgsupply.com and it doesnt work

Could just be a loose conection. The bulbs in HPS lghts need to be screwed in very tightly. Try unscrewing the bulb and putting a light film of vasoline over the metal end of the bulb and then screwing it back in. Very tightly remember, and use gloves! Plug the light in and remeber to let it run for a few minutes, to give it a chance to come on. If it still doesn't work, then you may need a new bulb, or something could be wrong with the ballast or ignitor, in which case your best bet may be to contact HTGSupply about the problem.....

 

probaly should've bought it directly from HTG... i ordered the 400w hps complete system, with light and ballast and reflectors and shit... for... about 120 bucks. 110-130, somewhere around there, i forget. im waiting for it to arrive, im pumped!

e-bay's bad sometimes dude, i think you just got screwed, did you buy it used? even if it was labeled as "new" some dude before you probaly used it, had a few problems and said fuck it, ill e-bay it. why else would they sell it on e-bay??

 

...HTG sells THEIR products on e-bay, big fella. It's just another outlet for their store - same merchandise.

Anyways to the OP: I'd try what the first dude suggested - the bulbs don't last all that long so that'd be the logical first step. If a new bulb still doesn't work I'd contact HTG. I'm not sure about their warranty policy on ballasts but I've made 4 or 5 orders from there with awesome customer service and response time - so it's worth looking into. I think my HTG ballast had a 2 year warranty... maybe more.

 

actually i just checked.. the ballast has a one year warranty.

 

yeah, i just got a 400w hps light from htg, it works perfect, and they do have good cutomer service. pretty sure you have a warranty...i think the ballast is supposed to make a buzzing sound... even know people say don't touch the bulb...it doesn't matter if you touch it or not. that is hallogen lights you can't touch, not HID's good luck with ur light

 

If you just got it... by all means call them. Warranty or not they should be able to help.

 

i also say call them. the proprietors name is tony, and he'll practically walk on glass to help you- very good cust service. i think all of this new ballasts come with two year warranty. i've got a friend who bought a 600w and it stopped working. he called and sent it back and once tony had a tracking # to prove the broken ballast was on it's way, he sent out another one before the broken one even got there. he will take care of you.
