I bottom water freshly planted seeds and baby sprouts to prevent washing away the soil. Once established I water conventionally.
Definitely water from the top. You won't get runoff out the bottom if you're watering from the bottom. With babies in little pots/cups you can wick up from the bottom as OldSkool does, though I water from the top even then.
Ok thanks guys. The guys at the local hydro shop told me to water from the bottom and couldnt believe that I was top watering. The only reason I can see bottom watter as a postive thing is when you have fungas nats or something that breeds in the top part of the soil. Other than that I couldnt come up with any ways to justify doing it. Thanks for the responses!
well i guess depends what medium u use i guess.for my soil i water from top for sure.much easier lol.plus the salts get washed downward and out.
