I like to maintain the notion that everything is a choice and not predetermined. So in answer I do not believe people are born gay or straight for that matter. Sexuality is a preference, a choice. In regards to being able to reproduce however it is not.

You might say you simply can't imagine having sex with a the same sex if you're heterosexual, or if you are homosexual having sex with the opposite gender may disturb you. It might sound far fetched but compare sexuality to an ice cream preference. You have chocolate and you have vanilla. Some people like both, some people like one or the either. Some don't like it at all (asexuality). In my opinion, it's very much the same thing. You can always change your mind about your sexual preference over time, just like you can change your tastes towards a kind of ice cream.

This shouldn't be seen as a belittling to how strongly a person may take their sexuality. Some people really, really, really... hate chocolate ice cream. I've never really given it much thought and just enjoyed them both as what they are.
Not that that relates to my sexuality..? Lol.

TLDR: It's a choice. A very strongly motivated choice.

  2. I think gayness is just a weird fetish that takes over ur life

  3. Being born gay if proven would be a slippery slope...why many do not want to explore it. Regardless if you like it or agree there will be a time not to far from now that we will be able to design our babies. Might not happen in the US but if you could do it in another country tons would flock to do it. If you need some proof go find out the requirements for sperm donors. Can't be bald, have to be a certain height..no short humans accepted, have to look good etc etc. So if this is a way your born then that attribute could possibly be changed. We already try in a non genetic manner in many cases to determine the output.

Interesting Star Trek Next Generation Episode on that actually. Was a race of Androgynous beings. A few small percentage adopted one sex and they had a secret lifestyle. Riker falls in love with "her". Government finds out and corrects the problem returning her to a androgynous state to cure suffering.

  4. I think its just like.. An opinion man. But scientifically penises aren't supposed to go in buttholes but it feels damn good

  5. Idon't know if I'd say people are "born gay", I think everybody is kinda born like a blank canvas and as you grow, you become who you are, you discover that you love to sing, you're good at soccer, or that you're gay! I don't think people choose their sexuality, but it's a part of who they are and they will realize that just like they realize everything else about themselves.

  6. As with most every other aspect of our lives, it will almost certainly be found that gaydom vs. non-gaydom is related to a combination of factors, including (but not limited to) genetics, epigenetics (heritable gene expression patterns), external social-contextual influence, and our own internal particular mechanisms for weighing and evaluating the behaviors we perceive in others and ourselves.

Never forget that our genes are a two way street. They both influence our behaviour and are influenced by it. The various modes of genetic expression are dynamic, not static, and are influenced by many things, not the least of which are our experience, choices, and habits.

  7. I think it depends on how you look at it.

If we are looking at the terms of attraction, then I think it is definitely genetic. Think about it, we all have different tastes in men and women and it's not the same as others. People prefer different facial features more than others. If you think about it, those tastes likely will be similar to what your mom and/or your dad liked. For example, my dad found younger looking women to be attractive and I like the same thing but in guys (and women as well). My mom had a thing for asses on guys and I do as well. Yes I am bisexual (prefer guys a lot more) and my parents are both straight. However, my point is you are born to what you are attracted to, and I know for me that my taste in what I'm attracted to definitely has elements of what my parents are attracted to. I think that's the case for a lot of people and you can't change what you're attracted to. It is what it is.

I think the thing that is questionable is what you do with the attraction, and that's where I think it can be a choice. For example, I think pornography is the best example. Lots of the males and women doing the gay parts are really straight but are doing it for money or attention. They are choosing to be gay even though they wouldn't do it outside of pornography. Britney Spears making out with Madonna at the superbowl would obviously be a choice because they are straight but chose to do that for attention.

  8. I think it hurts many peoples feelings because they feel that the belief belittles their sexuality.

I would put "or straight" on the end so people understand you are talking about sexuality in general, not just homosexuality.

Not when posting online, I mean in general. If you start off with a comment like that without adding "or straight" on the end, the other person will instantly get a defensive mindset and feel they have to disagree with everything you say.

  9. I believe that most people are born towards one end of the sexual spectrum but I also think it's safe to say that beyond a few weirdos, no one chose to be gay. I don't think it's a far stretch to imagine that most people would not choose to have to come out to friends and family, be discriminated against, picked on at school, etc. That's what is offensive. In a way, you are essentially saying that someone who is gay, chose to have all of these negative things done to them on purpose. That they purposely disadvantaged themselves, and were not smart enough or strong enough to "choose" to be straight.

Homosexuality is naturally occurring in nature, which points to it being more of a genetic disposition than anything. It's a fact that society influences how people express their sexuality and gender, but there has been no scientific evidence that says someone can completely, purposefully change which end of the spectrum they naturally lean towards. (Leaning obviously doesn't pertain to people who genuinely are attracted to both sexes.) Personally, I believe you're born gay and I'm always baffled by the other side, but to each their own.

  10. i think "gay" is stupid, for me anyways
    its two things
1-its the way you have sex
2- its the way you present yourself
what is the big deal about this whole subject? so much, your worried if you were born gay???
its just the way you fuck. and what happens if your gay, then suddenly decide you dont like fucking an ass hole anymore and want pussy. are you still "gay" or do you hide it because you are gay? is finding a guy to fuck easier then a girl?
man life is easy for some of yall i guess, if thats the kind of things you worry about

  11. "Gay" is an adjective not a noun. Does "straight" define you?

  12. I think you make a good point, but I have to disagree. See the thing is you know what you're attracted to right? You know what women you like and what you're attracted to. I bet you have a male in your side of your family (most likely your father) who is attracted to a similar type of women.

Weird example with me being gay. For example, my dad was into younger women that looked younger than their age. I am THE EXACT same way but with guys and with the little attraction to women, i'm the same way. My mom loves asses on guys as to I. Tbh, if I didn't have this connection with my parents, I would end up agreeing with you, but after knowing that about my parents, I know it's something genetic. If you are genetically chosen what kind of girl you're into, being able to be born what gender you're attracted to just makes sense imo.

  13. There are countries where homosexuality is 100% not tolerated in society and is punishable by death or prison. Saudi Arabia or Zimbabwe is a good example. Logically no one in their right mind would choose to be gay under these circumstances. But you will find underground gay communities in these places. That right there should tell any logical or philosophical person that there is more to it than the environment in which you are brought up in.

Not to mention we know which hormones influence sexual preference, and we know that they begin developing in utero... but this is the philosophy section, not the science section so I'll leave it at that.

  14. I dont think people are born gay. Im bi-sexual and can honestly say i never had a sexual thought about a man until i was in my late 20's..indeed when i was younger the thought disgusted me.

I think is sexuality isn't a genetic thing per se - its just we are programmed to wanna fuck rather than to recreate.....its just some people like to fuck men, women or something inbetween!

  15. Well see now I think we're reversing the situation. Yes because of how society functions in those countries, they are not admitting to being gay and are CHOOSING to be straight. However, that doesn't change the fact of what I said. You know what turns you on and what physical attributes apply. Regardless, just because their actions are showing that they're straight doesn't mean they truly feel that way.

Look at weed for example. Yes it's not completely legal yet you're still doing it anyway. But what if the laws against it were as straight as much as if you were in China, or Japan, where you could be really punished or even be killed for it, would you still do it? Yeah maybe you'd quit, but I bet inside, if you knew a way where you could get away with it, you'd still do it, and even if you didn't, that doesn't change that fact that in your head, you're really feeling the opposite of what society wants you to do.

That's a fair enough statement. To be quite honest, I think there's a middle point. There is some genetic factors but I think there is also some nurturing factors as well. For example, I know there are bisexuals that have a type of guys and girls they are into (sometimes the factors of what kind of physical attraction to be consistent between the genders and others times not at all) and wouldn't be against pursuing a relationship and feel that passion romantically, emotionally, and physically, but there are others where they want most of that toward one gender but not toward the other. I've known a lot of bi guys who want to do mostly everything with a woman but only want to be sexual with a guy and nothing more or only wants to date the guy because of personality only and there is no physical attraction toward them at all. I feel like stuff like that would be more of a choice because you're having an open mind to try new things beyond what most people are doing but not enough to do all the things with the same sex.

For me I'm the 2nd example above but flipped around.

  16. Good point and one people dont consider often is the difference between sexual attraction and emotional attraction. I could never see myself in a relationship with a man as im not emotionally attracted to men - purely sexual. Where as women I love their company.

  17. Exactly and there's where I think the fine line between choice and genetics is drawn. I think if you want to to pursue a relationship and can gain feelings both mentally, emotionally, romantically, and physically towards the opposite or same sex, I think that part is genetic, but when it comes to just wanting to date cause of a mental/personality attracted or just wanna hookup with a gender and want nothing more, I think that's more of a choice because you're willing to expand your mind beyond just strictly one sex.

  18. Indeed and im willing to expand my mind. I would have a relationship with a trans lady! Emotional side I need that femininity that a camp as christmas guy could never provide.

  19. What about if it were a trans guy?
