So I've been smoking for about two years now, and sometime last year I realized a lot of the time when I got high I would waste time, and spend the entire sesh on Netflix or Pornhub or stuff like that. I'm sure realizations like this aren't really unique, but one of the ways I started to try and be more productive when I smoked was by reading. It seems like a weird combo, but something about being stoned and reading can make it a lot more fun; at its best, it starts to feel like the words are a rollercoaster you're riding on. I found this effect strongest while reading William Faulkner, since his prose style is already pretty off the wall, and one could probably take it one step further by reading books such as those by James Joyce while stoned. So I wanted to ask, for anyone who likes to read when they smoke, what books do you like to read during seshes? Sci-Fi blends really well with weed I find; I'm currently reading Count Zero by William Gibson and that's a total trip while stoned lol.

  2. Uh. Books are kind of nerdy and boring when stoned. I'd rather play video games, watch a movie, or fuck on a bad bitch while stoned. But since you ask, Watchmen is the ultimate stoner book. And yes, it's a book, not a comic. It has those trippy retro graphics, and Dr. Manhattan reminds me of my high self. All isolated, paranoid, self conscious, alone.

  3. So you related to the moody genius who re-locates from Earth? Haha no but really, I need to go back and re-read Watchman. I stopped when I was younger because it was too depressing, but maybe the greenie barrier would help with that. That's one benefit to reading stoned I hadn't thought of. And also definitely graphic novels would go well with the plant; something I'll keep in mind for the future.

  4. I have a copy you can borrow; it's better to read a physical copy of it while stoned; the ink on paper adds to the bakieness. Just don't spill coffee or get jizz on the pages. I've had this copy for 10 years; its a dear possession of mine. I got it right before the movie came out when I was in high school. I used to read it at lunch in school all alone, then smoke mids I got from "that black kid" in my geometry class once my parents went to sleep.

  6. Yeah bro that'd be chill. Your story makes me think about how reading and getting greened can both act as a form of escapism; maybe that's one of the initial reason I linked them so fast in my head. I remember liking Rorschach the most, but that might be because when I started reading watchmen my clothes always looked like a Rorschach test lol. I'll be more careful with your copy.

  8. Thanks I'll have to look into that! I wasn't aware that it's actually a trilogy, but I've found books dealing with urban squalor settings make for some interesting reading high; that's one reason I was drawn to the Neuromancer trilogy I think.
