Bong to pipe

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by ejyarb, Aug 14, 2008.

  1. When I first started smokin I used to make ghetto home made bongs. plastic water bottle, bic pen, and aluminum foil for the bowl.
Now that I decided I actually wanna keep smokin and whatnot, I thought I should get a pipe, cause I can't keep a bong in my house and a pipe is easy to hide.

So I was wondering if making the transition from bong to pipe is as crazy as people say it is, with the harsh hits and everything.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. the first few times you hit any pipe (I find) its very vulgar and harsh, but after a few hit you start to get the hang of it and it becomes alot more enjoyable, and if your doing it right you wont even remember how bad it was a few minutes ago

  3. if your really worried about it get a small glass bubbler. ive got a little mini sherlock and its awesome. hits are soo easy. its not even like smoking. and its just as easy to hide as a normal pipe. i got mine off of a website for 25 bucks plus shipping. it was on clearance. just look around im sure you could find one. or if you cant get a bubbler you can get a drink in your mouth while taking a hit from a dry bowl and cool the hit through he drink in your mouth.

  4. well my first question is:
have you ever smoked out of a pipe?
    (Spoon, Bubbler, Chillum, anything)

i am also going through the same transition, but slightly dif.

i have homemade bongs too, but a little more advanced. (check out my thread about making a good bong)

but since i got busted, i threw out all of my larger homemade pieces, and am buying a glass piece (pipe) off of my friend b/c i too need something that is easier to hide.

in terms of harsher hits, there is a little getting used too but it is not that bad.
with bongs (as you already know) the hits are larger and the smoke has more time to cool in the chamber of the bong, in turn giving you a cooler, less "harsh" hit.

with pipes, the smoke has less time to cool so the hit will be "harsher" but will get you high all the same. and pipes are obviously smaller and therefore easier to hide, are more discreet when you are outside, and are very easy to transport as they can fit in your pocket.

both options have their benefits, just pick the one that applies to your needs and situation at hime, obviously you need a small piece to hide, and more discretion.

    hoped this helped.:)

    happy tokin!:smoking:

  5. Cool beans, thanks guys, I'll be ordering a spoon or bubbler off GC soon.

  6. im to lazy to read every post to see if anyone has already said this but i bet that plastic and tinfoil shit way worse for you and pri more harsh.

  7. Get a bubbler, or even better, a double bubbler, because regular pipes do suck compared to bongs. If you smoke joints or blunts, the halfway point on one is about how harsh a pipe is. Joints and blunts start off smoother than pipes because the rest of the weed behind the lit end is sort of filtering the smoke a bit, but you've got no filtration or cooling in a regular pipe, which is why it's probably my least favorite way to smoke (well, soda cans are probably worse, but I won't smoke out of 'em anyway). Of course, with joints and blunts, it gets harsher than a pipe towards the end because the smoke gets too hot, but when that happens you can always put 'em out and smoke 'em in your bong or bubbler anyway.
