Just got a bong got some questions... 1. Do i add water through the mouthpiece or where i insert the slide? 2. Cold or hot water? 3. Do i pour the water out when im done smoking through the mouthpiece or where the down stem is? 4. Do most people pour the bongwater out after use or do they just let it sit in there for a while? 5. when the bowl is cached, do i hit it out on my hand? how do i properly de-cache it since i obviously cant blow out the ash like i would with a normal pipe? 6. i think its color changing, the bong i mean. what makes it change colors? the resin? heat? smoke? 7. how thoroughly do i need to clean the bong or downstem after use? much appreciated.
1. If the bong doesn't have any percs, you could add the water through the mouthpiece, but usually I do it at the joint where the downstem is. 2. Cold 3. Either or, I'll say downstem. 4. Some people leave it sit, but that gets the bong even dirtier. I pour it out after every use. 5. I just blow the ash out, but you could hit it softly against your palm to de-ash it, or pull it through. 6. The residue changes the look of the glass. I don't like these color changing glasses because this make people not clean their piece. which brings me to... 7. I clean the bong after every use with hot water. At least twice a week with ISO +Salt or Grunge off. No one likes a dirty piece, but its ok to leave it be some days and not be to anal about it.
Hitman pretty much nailed it but I'm bored so here goes. 1) Doesn't matter, but I usually fill and empty through the mouthpiece for single chamber tubes. 2) I believe that warm water will allow for the smoothest hit, but I prefer and use the coldest water possible. 3+4) Doesn't necessarily matter where it gets poured out, but I usually pour out the mouthpiece...it's faster//easier. Always, always pour it out after each use...clean water will keep your tube cleaner and taste better. 5)I always have something to tap the ash out into, whether its an ashtray, cup, sink...I never use my hand to cash bowls. I usually use my lighter to tap the ash out with. 6)Color changing glass is (I believe) fumed glass, which will change color the more you use it. 7) Extremely hot (not boiling) water works great as stated above. 91% ISO alcohol and salt will take everything else out. Clean often...bacteria grows on dirty plant matter and can be inhaled, noone wants that. I've got a hefty, expensive tube collection and I like to keep my glass completely clean at all times, so they usually get soaked in GO for about 10 minutes after every hard use.
pour in/out of where ever you want. punk rock don't care. as for the color changing; the inside of the glass is fumed with particles of gold/silver that collect resin or smoke or whatever that makes it change color without necessarily getting all gunked up. i'm preeeeetty sure i didn't make that up :gc should have a drunk smiley:
