Bong/precooler Weight Distribution?

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by mrgrowl, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. So I recently bought a Black Leaf 3-arm perc bong (first ever order from grasscity and first ever entry level piece). Along with the bong I purchased a "weed star precooler". Unfortunately I got the wrong joint size so I had to order an adapter from ebay (sorry grasscity but shipping $ is f-king crazy).

So now everything is fitting and compatible! Yay! But there is a problem i may have overlooked... the precooler weighs down the bong so much it makes it falls forward. I should have saw this problem ahead of time but being my first purchase I guess I didnt even realize it. I've tried filling the bong up with as much water as possible but nothing is working.

Basically, what options do i have? I still want to use the piece, and it's not "impossible" to use, just very very inconvenient. I was thinking if i could find small weighted balls to put in the bong or anything to help weigh it down more. I would hate to have to redneck-rig it with some duck tape or something (I was thinking I could just glue or duct tape a more wide base to help balance it), but I'm out of ideas!

    Any advice? Thanks.

Leave the precooler or ash catcher as I call it un plugged from the tube when not in use, I've been there before. It doesn't have to be on there when not in use, in fact, my ash catcher will stay on my tube and not knock it over but I take it off when not In use because I'm worried the joint might break if it gets bumped.

EDIT: damn Siri spelling everything wrong.

  3. Huh, this actually works pretty well. I hadn't even realized my "ash catcher" had a flat bottom, making it an ease for setting down. This is definitely my go-to option. However, what other methods are there (if any) to solve this dilemma entirely?

Glad to hear i'm not the only one who is in the same situation lol.

Thanks for the help so far :)

The only thing you could do is make the base of the tube bigger, I personally would rather not mod my tube, do to the risk of accidentally smashing it while attempting to mod it. If the ash catcher stands, I'd leave it alone. Another thing you could do is try to keep the ash catcher as close to the tube as possible, my daily driver has a 90degree stem so I keep my ash catcher right up against the tube, not hanging out away from the tube.

  5. I had the same problem with my SYN 38mm an SYN pill bottle AC. I had to do just like you and take it off when not in use as having rest tipped forward was sketchy as hell.
