Blending pot in with a shake?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by umop 3pisdn, May 28, 2009.

  1. Say if I were to add something like ice cream, milk, chocolate and bananas or something, and some pot would this get me high or does it need to be cooked?

  2. No, that would not work. Weed needs to be cooked first in order to 'activate' the THC unless otherwise soaked up by a soluble substance(fat or alcohol), but this is usually a much longer process.

  3. you might be able to cook the weed in the chocolate first then put it in the milkshake not sure how tho.

  4. You have to cook weed to release the THC. Butter is just the easiest way to do this, and you can't hurt anything by adding some butter... especially when there's bud in it ;)

  5. It's not really a matter of 'releasing it'. Most of the THC in unsmoked bud is in the acid form, THC-A we'll call it. When it's heated via burning, vaporizing, or cooking, a carboxyl group is removed from it and it's converted to the more psychoactive form we all know and love.

Some of it is decarboxylated during drying and curing, so eating 'raw' weed will get you a little high, but most of it is still in it's acid form and won't do much. So to answer the OP's question, if you use enough it will get you high, but you'll be wasting a ton of it.

  6. Well cool. Now I understand that more :)

  7. Certainly can. Used roughly a half oz of sum of the worst buds on the planet. Blended into a juice shake for me and a friend. Never have a came near that point again. The day was a bliss-dream.
