  1. Know of any good 60's metal or stoner metal? Post the band names here. I know of one named Ironclaw, check em out

  2. Not really from the 60's I dunno any, The Sword are a pretty good modern day version though.

  4. Kyuss, Clutch, Electric Wizard (as stated above), Sleep, Orange Goblin, Bongzilla, High on Fire, Down, Red Fang, Acid Bath, some Melvins albums, and I guess you could categorize some of the earlier QOTSA stuff as "stoner metal" as well.

60s metal is almost an oxymoron considering the genre had yet to develop in the 1960s. Wasn't until '68-'69 that the earliest metal bands came to the forefront. That said...Coven, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, early King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Alice Cooper, maybe some The Yardbirds. Iggy & The Stooges were definitely more punk but they had an influence on early heavy metal and began in the late '60s so I guess they fall into that category. Same kind of deal goes for UFO, which was between the musical revolution of the mid-60s, the move to pussy-rock in the 70s, and the onset of NWOBHM in the late 70s and early 80s with Iron Maiden and such.
