Black/brownish spots on seedlings? (Autos)

  1. I've been posting everywhere on what this could be with no help, idk if I accidentally splashed water on it and magnification happen and burned? But it seems to get larger by the day, these are also about 3 and a half weeks old and I feel they are stunted in growth, it's a poorly ventilated area with rh around 30-40% max at 69-80F the room is like 14 feet by 6 1/2 ft, I have two ts1000s over them in a dwc system with General Hydroponics Trio at 5ml or 1tsp per nute/bucket at around 4 1/2 gal for 5 in total, the rest seem okay looking but little growth.
This is my first ever grow as well.
    I also have calimagic but have no I produced it yet so could be a calcium deficiency? 20240206_224904.jpg 20240206_224850.jpg 20240206_224838.jpg 20240206_224830.jpg 20240206_224826.jpg 20240206_224822.jpg 20240206_224806.jpg 20240206_224904.jpg 20240206_224850.jpg 20240206_224838.jpg 20240206_224830.jpg 20240206_224826.jpg 20240206_224822.jpg 20240206_224806.jpg

  2. Run a ratio of 3:2:1 using G:M:B to an EC ~800 uS (~400ppm). Use 1/2 the dose of recommended calimagic (ie. 1mL / 2L).
    Keep your pH ~ 5.8.

The symptom looks like P-def, but really, just run the ration as I suggested.

    Welcome to the forums.

  3. Gmb meaning grow micro and bloom right? And is it okay to add calimagic after base nutrients have been mixed?

    • Agree Agree x 1
  4. Yes, you're correct regarding GMB.

I mix calimagic first. I then add Micro, Grow and lastly add Bloom.

Is that water aerated? Is it good quality water or some tap water concoction?

  5. I have a active aqua air pump 8 outlet with 6 air stones 1 of which has 2 in it, my water is tap, I believe my ppm range right from tap is around 170s. I haven't tested my ec out tap yet but can, I also noticed I might have planted these too high up as moving some pebbles away from stem reveals tiny roots seeking down towards my rockwool,I guess this is alright and will just take a bit longer to root?

  6. oh rockwool is so tricky. You need to wet that once a day and drain it. I never liked RW, but some swear by it. You are better off using Rapid Rooters, or Root Riots.
Be patient and don't let it get too wet.

  7. Yeah I think I'll choose rapid rooters next or some peat pellets.

  8. no peat as it can get into the solution. I mess with cheap sponges you can buy in 50 packs; they are dry but they are narrow and thin. I use them when I start my plants using a aerocloning system I rigged. Here's the instructions. A cheap and effecient cloner
I use it a lot for starting seeds now. I germ my seeds for a day or two in 1% hydrogen peroxide, and then place in the sponges in a basket and set them up.
I have pictures and details on the sponges and baskets and set up here: aeroponic-model-4z0-stoner-experiment-5263199-rev_3-a.2866132

  10. I wanted to get ahead of this week's feeding regiment, I hopefully put together all the important I formation right into the pictures to help tie numbers to looks, all this is before I change the res later today to a fresh set, based off the readings arethey okay? I feel like I might have burned the my thai as it's around 400 ppm and 0.8 ec but not sure, I've already lost a seedling due to human error, don't wanna do another lol

I'm not sure on exactly getting the days correct but I started counting when they was placed in their buckets (too early i feel) which would be 4 weeks ago on a Tuesday but week of feeding is on its 3rd I'm going off like two feeding charts, GH drain to waste chart as well as the grow doctor site with their GH Trio calculator to calculate strength percentages, I went from 25% to like 50% in no time(too fast?) So like 1/4 to 1/2 for all which I thought would be fine but don't look like it lol.

  11. They look fine to me. I usually have a pH near 5.8, not 6.3.

  12. How would one going about converting 3:2:1 ratio to with ml or tsp?

  13. Those are ratios aka parts. So 3 parts Grow, 2 parts Micro, 1 part Bloom. You exchange the word 'part' for whatever you like, such as 3 ml G, 2 ml M, 1 ml B or 3 tsp G, 2 tsp M, 1tsp B. etc.
Are you sure there's enough air space below the plant? You don't want to submerge the entire seedling.

oh ok thank you, was a little confused how to convert,I'd say the waterline is just about a inch or a half inch away from bottom of the netpot, but there are roots developing, albeit slow but im starting to finally see some coming through (planted too high in rw I assume) so there's no roots active submerged yet but are sticking out, I can show pictures if needed.

  15. Did you check the links I posted early on?

  16. Yeah, I plan on moving to that setup eventually, probably by the 2nd time I give it a go, also I do a drain to waste schedule and was wanting to know that is it fine to add any differences I might have after initially feeding say 1.5 ml added when I need 2, is it fine to add the 0.5 even after all 3 mixed? I would only do this if all three needed to be adjusted as to not have a improper mixing.

  17. You can I suppose, but watch the EC/TDS. I have a handy table here to share with you
    EC PH RISING FALLING.jpg

    * Also, many people start with Bloom Nutes (*ie: 1:2:3 ratio instead of 3:2:1, but even 1:1:1) to add more phosphorous for root production. I don't normally just start my plants at 3:2:1 and usually wait until seedling stage is over. The clone/seedling ratio using 3-part is (no grow!) 2.5 mL Micro + 5 mL Bloom per gallon. This might be the ticket. I was planning on testing this ratio next time I change out my DIY propagation unit. I might even add a mL of SuperThrive for better performance.

  18. Does this look like the on set of root rot? I got another opinion saying yes but not sure and how to go about it? I don't have anything like bleach or hydrogen peroxide on hand but can get some soon should I just dump the res and sterilize best I can? I just don't want to wait to long as I heard it's not reversible as far as damage/time goes.

  19. The roots look a bit unhealthy. Are you not using probiotics? I can attest to their value. I would recommend EarthAlive Soil Activator, but there are others.
If you want to briefly look over and compare two products, here's a review of a couple, well, kinda review.
