The only people really "feeding" it are politicians themselves, as well as the media and big corporations. (Goldman & Sachs was the top contributor to both the Obama and Romney campaigns, what does that tell you?)
Sure, they persuade people to feed into it, but they themselves can't actually force people to vote democrat or republican. It's up to the citizens to make their own choices.
