Big Oven Vs. Small Oven

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by Nairck, May 13, 2011.

  1. So I have this miny little oven, it can get to like 500 degrees Fahrenheit but thats not the issue. When I made pot brownies last time, the recipe I have followed said like 300 degrees fahrenheit for 45 minutes. At about half an hour, the top started smoking, So I turned down the heat to about 200 and let it finish. It did smoke a bit even at 200 but, after I took it out, the inside wasn't cooked.

Now I know, that with a smaller over, the heat is more contained, and with a big oven, its more... general? Anyways... I know the ratio for heat and oven size are different, I'm just wondering if anyone has suggestions on alternative heat and time for this small little oven? And no I don't have access to a big oven.

    Thanks!

  2. Try 25-30 mins at 300

  3. but even after 45 minutes, the middle was still not cooked?

  4. I think when you turned it down then the heat was too low- try starting it at 275 or 250 and then if it needs to be turned down more just turn it down by 25 degrees. also make sure you pre-heat the oven first. good luck edit-to fix bad typos

  5. but I don't think it will be completely cooked after I have turned it to a low temperature over a 45 minute period. I think maybe I should just keep lowering it until it's done its 45 minutes, then leave it in until it's cooked with the toothpick trick?

Anyways i'll give that a try and let you know how it goes.

  6. the thing about baking is a lower temperature for longer doesn't usually work (unless it's just as few minutes and few degrees)- don't know enough scientifically to explain it well but it just doesn't work... try a batch of plain brownies just lowering the temp 25 degrees as sometime the oven thermostat is off (mine is so I have to put it a bit lower) and that's a better way to do a test try and get a feel for it's workings

  7. Alright, thanks, I'll give it a try.

  8. I just cooked a batch of Brownies using my friends Smaller oven. Cooked it at 325 for 20 min and there perfect all the way threw. Its prolly ur oven the small ones arent very reliable unless u paid ilke 300 dollars for one....Which he did.

  9. welll this one was pretty expensive. It's an oster, so I' dont know if thats a good brand or whatever, but whatever.

What recipe did you use? I've been looking for one
