BHO VG tincture for e-cigs - How do I do it?

  1. Hey guys! I'm really, really new to the consuming-cannabis-via-means-other-than-smoking crowd. I've recently fallen in love with e-cigarettes, namely the Joye Ego with the 510 cartomizer.

I've been using one for the last couple months that I bought from my guy for eighty bucks. It costs forty to get a newly filled cartomizer.

I've recently come to the realization, after breaking the e-cig, that I can a) build an e-cig of my own, piece-by-piece, for a little under fifty dollars less than I bought mine for, and b) I can refill the canisters myself with relative ease and for a lot cheaper. I figure forty dollars worth of decent-quality cannabis can make enough BHO to make a veggie glycerin tincture to last me a few reloads (I could be way off on my math though, if I am please tell me).

However, I am very unfamiliar with the process in which one makes this stuff. I know from YouTube videos how to make BHO (Really, all I need is a mason jar), and I know how to make bud tincture (Alcohol, VG and PG based). But there's gotta be a special way to make the tincture so it works properly in the e-cig.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Basically I'd like it if you guys could help me out here. I need a recipe, one that is guaranteed to work in these e-cigs. Do I need to cook the BHO specially? Is it straight 1:1 BHO and VG? What are the ratios? Do I need to thin it out? What do I use to thin it out with, water? Alcohol?

    Thanks guys!

  2. I'd recommend de-waxing the bho to remove non-polar plant waxes that will not dissolve in vegetable glycerin.

Search "de-wax hash oil", with "acetone" or "ethanol" added to the end of the search string, depending on the solvent you have at your disposal.

I have tried impure homemade bho in my e-cig to no avail, much of the stuff did not dissolve and it was all clumping together. Putting it in the oven would cause all the crap to rise to the top, since I couldn't continually stir it.

Kief was much easier, but did not work well in my Riva 510 carts, so I resorted to dripping it on the atomizer.

Badkat's sticky has all the info on vg/pg recipes for e-cigs, I'd check her profile out, the recipes are easy to find in her blog. That way you don't have to read through the 86 pages that is her thread! ...but you should anyways!

  3. Thanks a lot!

  4. I've searched, but only found badkat23 and badkat 420, neither has any posts on this, can you provide a link?
