Best way to smoke water pipe?

    So I got this pipe:

    Blaze Glass - Premium Percolator Ice Bong blue - English - Grasscity.com

    I'm trying to figure out the best way to smoke it. I have some glass screens ('daisy' and 'jack' pattern) and i've been experimenting with them. My dilemma is that if I don't put a screen in I only get a few hits out of it before it pulls through. If I do put a screen in it seems like it almost puts to much resistance on the air flow.

    My main question is what is the best way to pack it?

    The options I considered were...

    1) Finely ground up bud w/ screen
    2) Finely ground up bud w/o screen

    3) Lightly ground up bud w/ screen
    4) Lightly ground up bud w/o screen

    5) Small pieces of nuggets (broken up by hand) w/ screen
    6) Small pieces of nuggets (broken up by hand) w/o screen

    I just got this piece yesterday. It's my first water pipe and it's awesome. I ordered it on July 16th, 2010 and received it on Feb 3rd, 2010. It was shipping from Europe (Belgium I think) to Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). It hits smooth as butter.

    Now over time I intend on testing all 6 of those scenarios to see what is the best but in the mean time I thought i'd ask the community if they knew of a way clearly superior to others.

    cool fucking bong man, good choice. i'd for sure go for the lightly ground no screen. you need to do this for a few packs imo to get the rez building up so it doesn't full through so fast or to be able to snugly fit a screen in unless its a glass triangle thingee..

    I found that using steel screens helps me get the most from my herb. I use my metal grinder to get smaller grounds. Fine grounds burn up way too fast and causes a bad smoke. The stuff you want is ON TOP of the green, for the most part. Burning anything else is not as desirable. The metal screens are cheap and prevent the herb from getting into the water pipe. Plus you can spread out your herb better with a metal screen, thus getting the flame to the herb quicker. Slowly inhale so the flame can reach all over the herb, this way you are not inhaling lighter butane. Let the fire do most of the work, not the lighter.

    I found a site that explains in detail how to smoke with a tube(water pipe). If you GOOGLE prestige pipes use tube, you will find detailed instructions. The site has great info and stuff for sale too. I love my grinder that I got from them!
