Best way to position my Flouro's.

  1. I have a flourescent light that has a spiral shape i was wondering if its best to point them down towards the plants, and use them lenght wise atop the plants? hope this makes sense!

  2. A CFL?

It doesn't really matter in my opinion. People will tell you what to do because of what they've seen on the internet. CFLs are effective if the plants are within about a foot of the lights. Whichever way you orient them, they are still only CFLs.

Either way, you won't notice a different in yield or anything. The change that would result from orienting the bulb different is negligible.

I do not where you got that info , but any grow book you open ( including light charts ) will tell you that CFL lights are loosing their effectiveness ( for growing ) when they are more than 3" away from the plants . Have you ever seen noobs posting pictures of their seedlings with under cfl light when cfl lights about a foot above the plant? They all so stretched because they are not getting enoughf light .... OP always double check the info , keep in mind that probably half of the "advisers " in here have no experience nor to read at least one grow book . To clear things out for you go here :http://forum.grasscity.com/lighting/263178-all-about-lighting.html , here:http://www.420magazine.com/forums/grow-lighting/111680-cfl-light-tutorial.html And here :http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/216418-introduction-lighting.html

  4. Lengthwise with reflector behind it....
    Cheers!

  5. I have grown with CFLs. My first set up was a crappy over head 'shop light', 4' long with 2 40 watt bulbs. Then around each plant I had 3 of those clamp-on reflector lights with 42 watt CFLs and got a good grow.

Make sure you keep those cfls as close as possible to the plants, like 2 or 3 inches. If you are using those large cfls or t5s, a little farther away.

Check out a book called "8 oz. of Bud for Less Than $100" by SeeMoreBuds. It has a real good instruction on how to do a basic CFL grow. He uses MG soil in the book but you can use whatever your choice is.

I know this kola looks 'airy' but it was rock hard and smelled like citrus.
