Best way to hook up my home theater?

  1. I need some help with the best way to hook up my home theather stuff.

The TV is a 47" LG LCD. It has 3 HDMI inputs, one component input, and the only audio output is a digital coaxial.

My surround/sound system is a few years old and as a result, only has RCA audio inputs, no digital coax inputs.

I'm hooking up an XBox 360 and a digital cable box. With the XBox I can use either component or HDMI. The cable box is component only.

For now, I'm just hooking up the XBox OR the cable box to the TV via component (only one component input) and running the audio to the surround system via RCA. It's a pain in the ass having to crawl behind the TV to switch out the cables when I want to switch from TV to Xbox.

So without going out and buying a new sound system with a digital coax input, is there anything else I can do?

  2. your receiver for the stereo has only one input?? thats weird.

if you can just get one of these:

That's how I use my computer for music on my old school stereo set up. And then i flip a switch on my receiver and it goes to phono or radio.
