hello together ! i have a question and hope you can help me ? i have already search alot, but no answer...... what is the best "way" to extrakt POLLINATED Leaves with iso ? (where are the cannabinoids located ? - becouse the trichomes are already kief (; ) but i have often use this pollinated leaves to make brownies (; i know, its better to extrakt repeatedly with less of solvent.......... if i want have very good quality, than i use only buds or kief and extract only for some seconds/minutes (best with hexane)....... but the leaves are already pollinated and contains much of chlorophyll, waxes and so on....... and i only can hexane/pentane and its expensive..... i want a good cannabinoid yield , with less solvent as possible (becouse the destillation take much time) and not extrem much of work (70-90% is this realistic?) ....... less chlorophyll is good but not so importend, becouse i want to "(re)extract" the extract with propyleneglycol..... (is chlorophyll soluble in propylenglycol ?)....... otherwise i re-extract with pentane/hexane (; today i have try it this way: 80g of pollinated, crumbled leaves in 1600ml boiling iso and leave it over night...... then filter the solvent...... add 1000ml of boiling iso and leave it for 2h.......filter again and collect the solvent...... add 1000ml of boiling iso and leave it for 1h.......filter and collect..... add 1000ml of iso (roometemperature) and leave it for 1 or 2h ........filter and collect..... i think this is much of solvent and much of work for so less plantmaterial ??? and the last solution was very green, too....... the leaves are also green ....... but whats about the cannabinoids ? how much iso for Xg of leaves is good ? with hot/warm or cold iso ? (and why ?) how long ? (and why ?) how often ? thank you very much !
pollinated dont mean male + female !!!!!!!!!!! i mean the technique to make kief out of the leaves and so on.........
Sorry "pollinated leaves" doesn't mean anything. Leaves don't get pollinated unless you mean a male flower releases pollen on the leaves. If you're talking about trichomes, it's best to say so.You're using much too much solvent and too often. 4600 ml of solvent for 80 grams of leaves is way too much. Look up QWISO and follow directions for that. Good luck.
thank you for you answer ! this is a "pollinator": https://www.tempel-store.ch/image/cache/data/_img/_products/101575/101575-680x680.jpg and so i use "pollinated" for leaves, where the trichomes are already harvested............ you right, its much of solvent and thank you for the hint to qwiso ! but the qwiso works with very good quality and extracts the cannabinoids out of the trichomes ? my plant material is trichom-free and i need to extract the rest of cannabinoids out of the plant material ? for my first wash, i use the same amount of solvent, linke the tutorial für "making thc from industriell hemp"....... with 1600ml for 80g the plant material is covered...... but are the extractions after are realy required ?
I think you're way over thinking it. Just use common sense. If you have 2 grams of bud, you're not gonna use an entire liter of alcohol. Btw grain alcohol is much safer because it doesn't contain contaminants and also isn't dangerous if it isn't fully purged Sent from my VS985 4G using Grasscity Forum mobile app
True. Asker, I've seen you talk enough chemistry in other threads for you to know that "covering material with solvent" does not account for conditions such as maximum solubility, etc. If this 80g of plant materials is even 20% pure, this would equate to roughly 16g THC. With the solubility of THC in isopropanol being roughly 30mg/mL, you can quickly calculate that 16,000mg THC is soluble with only 533mL of alcohol. No need to use three times as much solvent, as it'll only result in more work for you during purification.
