Best rapper of all time

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by liltunechi24, Feb 3, 2011.

  1. Nas was partially right when he said hip hop is dead, but only in the mainstream. No artist today making good hip hop started releasing after the 90s, its all Old School or some underground thwts the good shit.

GZA/Genius (my name is his 1st solo album after Wu was founded)
Biggie (only because he died before he went mainstream lol)
Big Pun (super lyrical Puerto Rican)
Vinnie Paz (Italian from Phillie underground)
RZA (GZAs cousin, also Wu. Wished people thought of them when they think Staten Island, fuck Jersey Shore imo)

  2. except for the part where thats not even remotely true.

  3. @[member="llllllllll"] all todays rappers suck. Theyre unoriginal, stupid, and only in it forthe money. Hip hop was created as a way for street youth to express themselves and talk about life in the hood. Not gangsta shit, that was West Coasts take on it, I mean shitty living conditions and the everyday struggle. The garbage everyone bumps today has absolutely nothing to do with that. Notall but many old school cats like Brand Nubian, GZA, Rakim, etc used hiphop to spread knowledge and wisdom. Please explain how any rapper today is trying to educate their audience or relate to their struggles. Just like reality tv they try to sell you an image, plain and simple.

    Broken glass everywhere
    People pissing on the stairs
    They just dont care
Cant stand the smell, cant stand the noise
Got no money to move out guess I got no choice
Rats in the front, rude roaches in the back
Junkies in the alley with the baseball bat

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 "The Message"
So please, take a step back and literally punch yourself in the face

  4. Wealth of the artist doesnt equal quality, it means theyre easily marketable. Michael Bay sucks and I guarantee he has way more money than Scorsese or Tarantino

  5. I didn't say anything about wealth.

You start your last post by alluding to NaS lyrics/album and then you say no artist today who started releasing music after 1990 is good.

Nas started releasing music after 1990. So hes not good, right? I dont think you can even follow your own convoluted logic.

Dead Silence, News got it dead in the room
Pregnancy complications left you dead in the womb
Maybe I take the blame God punish me for old sins
The tears hit me when I think of what you could have been
I flame jane try to smoke away the pain
But I know the bond that we made wasn't in vain
Could have been my little Freddie
But I guess you wasn't ready for a world
    A world so cold

If you want me to do you dirty like that again just ask, like I said I could give examples like that all day.

jk, I'm bored so i'll post a few more but i'm still fairly certain you are just trollin around

Example 2: Freddie Gibbs - It's About to be a murder
Never been a stranger to the gun play, bust that get away
I know that Imma have to pay on judgement day
Around my way niggas don't live to see their hair turn grey
I be excited if I make it to my next birthday

Example 3: Kendrick Lamar - Art of Peer Pressure

Bragging ‘bout the episode we just had
A shot of Hennessey didn't make me feel that bad
I'm usually a true firm believer of bad karma
Consequences from evil will make your past haunt you
We tryna conquer the city with disobedience
Quick to turn it up, even if we ain't got the CD in
But Jeezy still playing and our attitude is still “nigga, what is you saying”
Pull in front of the house that we been camping out for like two months
The sun is going down as we take whatever we want

    Example 4: J Cole - 2Face

Yeah I seen heaven, seen hell
The two faces of the Ville
One side dreams, the other sides real
One side schemes, the other side deals
What the pain brings another mother cry still
Why the fuck am I here God?
That nigga died why the fuck am I still alive?
I feel ashamed cause the good Lord done brought all this success to me
And all I seem to focus on is all this stress on me
    Bless homie we breathin
    Cold world got me sneezing
Wrote this when I was broke so hey I guess we even
Though it blows fighting demons trying to stop from bustin semen
In an unfamiliar bitch I know my niggas feel this shit
How could I fuck her raw? And I just met the ho
My dick took over it ain't never felt this wet before
Im stressing in my mind but its way to late to stop it
Mate this shit so bad, I had a condom in my pocket
    Lets change the topic
    Before I go berserk
I'm so alert, riding down 95
Naw I ain't finna to go to work
I'm headed back home ain't staying that long
I'm chasing dreams shawty im paying back loans
I'm paying dues that a nigga paying tax on
Im tryna blow like a nigga playing saxophone
Im playing daddy to another niggas daughter
Don't worry even Jesus never saw his real father
It don't bother me at all though
Yeah say it don't bother me at all
They got me thinking bout my mom though
Man I can't wait to sing this song I be like, I be like

  7. I see people are riding that Dick Cheney.  :hide:

  8. @llllllllll@llllllllll First, I meant the 90s not the year 1990, which shouldve been pretty obvious. And I know Kendrick but do you hear that on the radio? No, they pump garbage poppy rap into your ears.

  9. and yet you ignore the rest of what I posted.

And kendrick is on the radio. So idk what u are talking about... actually I mean, YOU dont know what you are talking about.

  10. I ignored the rest becwuse I ignore that shit normally. Just cuz you wrote it down doesnt mean I have to address that crap.

  11. lol see, I post multiple examples to your lame statement and you just dont even pay attention to it. Figured this would be the sort of crap you'd reply back with. Either you're extremely stuck in the past or just trollin

  12. I would say Eminem and biggie smalls has the best lyrics, my favorite rapper of all time though has to be tupac. Nas is a sick rapper aswell.

  13.
The big problem I always had with Em is that his content in his early days is more cringe worthy than an edgy high school emo kid.

No doubt hes a talented technical rapper though. His music just never really spoke to me other than looking at it from a purely technical standpoint.
