Best placement for 1000W horizontal in a 8 x 7 room

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by GoneJohnson, Jul 12, 2005.

  1. I am growing some really nice tomatoes and have just enclosed a good 7 foot by 8 foot with an 8 foot celling area to allow blossom or fruit growth. I plan to put 2 - horizontal 600 watt HPS in when I can afford ... but that is going to be a long while.

I have an old faithful 1000 watt HPS - the older Max-89 white hood for those of you that remember when they were da bomb.

There has been a lot of improvements in lights and hood construction over 15 years.

So where would you place it? After researching lighting footprints I feel the center would not allow much light to reflect off the bright flat white walls. So I am considering putting it in a position to cover 2/3's of the room.

I am also wondering if down the road if 2 vertical hoods would better disburse light? What about light movers or light tracks?

Comments, suggestions on either current or future plans are much appreciated. Cuz I love my :smoke:

  2. Tomatoes? ahahaha

  3. Well yeah, tomatoes are the closest thing to marijuana when it comes to growing im pretty sure.

  4. Light movers/tracks always increase the useable square footage of grow space. They are a reasonable investment so I just do the 2/3'rds of the room method. If I fill my room with plants I can't even get in the grow room for maintenance so . . lol

Total Agrees with light mover :hello:

  6. I agree too after further reading on light movers. So I went with 2 lights and am using about 8' x 5' now but have a "movable wall" inside a 8 x 12 area so as things grow.... I got room :D
