I love the genre the only bands i have are: - Pink Floyd - Foster the people - MGMT (Only seems to be epic when i mix drugs) Anyone got any amazing phsycadelic rock songs i can get stoned too?
Some good bands are: The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields Forever, I am the Walrus Tom Petty (not really psychedelic rock) - Last Dance of Mary Jane Jimi Hendrix - Purple haze, Are You Experienced, And the Gods Made Love Grateful Dead - Dark Star, Casey Jones, St. Stephen, The Eleven Donovan - Atlantis, Wear Your Love Like Heaven, Season of the Witch Pink Floyd - ANY SONG BY PINK FLOYD ( I suggest starting with Dark Side of the Moon) There's a lot more out there, but I think that's a pretty good taste.
Neither MGMT or FTP are really psychedelic rock, but I really like this song when I'm baked and it's sort of in those 2's category, just indie pop, I posted a remix cause it's better [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGJQU4r2aCY]GROUPLOVE- Colours (Captain Cuts Remix) - YouTube[/ame]
I know two old songs. United States of America - Metaphysical Circus Legend of Mind - The Moody Blues

Hmm well early Pink Floyd is by far my favourite. However there's other great phsyc artists I like, for example, "Hawkwind" and "Gong" There's a song by Gong which always terrifies me when I'm stoned, it has a witch laughing and it's called "I am your pussy" I think !! haha Peace
I would expand beyond "psychedelic rock". There are many bands that make interesting music beyond the "psychedelic rock" template. A lot of what Hendrix and Floyd were doing in the 60s and 70s, people have taken it further and it now falls under the genre of "experimental rock" or "progressive rock". As one person said earlier, Tool is a good band. They make some music heavier than what many people may be accustomed to, but they do make some interesting psychedelic music. Another good band is Animal Collective. They're considered part of the psych folk movement. I would check out any of their releases. Merriweather Post Pavilion is easily their most accessible record, but if you don't mind weirdness (and I mean some WEIRDNESS) you might want to look into something such as Sung Tongs. The Antlers just released a new EP called Undersea, its very trippy. They have some interesting things going on on that new record. John Frusciante's The Empyrean is a great album. Very ambient and tends to be psychedelic at many points as well. Not necessarily in your face but very subtle.
