Best method for transitioning indoor plant to outdoor

  1. So I started 3 plants indoors under 24/0 light cycle for about 5 days, then I switched to 20/4 for the past 4 days. Should I go for 18/6 for a couple days before moving them outdoors. I live in the midwest so the sun rises at 5:15 A.M and sets at 8:40P.M. I’m trying to avoid them flowering until the days get shorter naturally.

  2. I slowly took mine down to 16/8 then throw them to nature on May 11th. What pistils did show went away within a few days and the days are MUCH longer now.

  3. What exactly do you mean by slowly? 20,30,40 min intervals or a few hours every couple of days like I have been? Bit worried to change it in small intervals each day because I’d assume that would mimic the outdoors.

  4. You are fine as long as you are over 15.5 hrs daylight. Dropping 2 hours off vs 30 minutes at a time is a bit more extreme. I roll my lights back at 30 minute intervals. To each their own.

  5. Your way over thinking this. Most times I put my plants out after 24/0 with no ill effects. Ive been doing it this way for 10+ yrs. This year because of the cool Mich. weather I kept my clones under light a little longer cut the light in 2hr intervals every couple days for no reason other than just because.

  6. Your in the northern hemisphere so wait until the 23rd of June when the days begin to get shorter and then put them out.
Down Under in Oz I put mine out on Boxing Day, I have tried putting plants out in october or november and they go to flower and then back to veg and all confused for a bit.

  7. The biggest worry at the moment for young plant is too much sun at once. (been gardening since child and hemp is a plant)

  8. Agreed I use 24/0 until I put them out. The biggest concern is the potent sunlight all at once so here is what to do..
    A. Slowly add lights to the plant while indoors. Once they get used to intense light they go outside with no wilting at all.
    B. Slowly transition them to outdoor light. Put them out in the sun for 30 min and watch for wilt. Once they wilt put them in shade. Once they recover put them back out in sun and repeat until no ill signs from full sun.
