Best lighting?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by ShadowBud, Jun 11, 2009.

  1. I want to set up a grow room, but have a question about lighting.

I'm going to grow in a narrow space (ex: 10-12feet long, 2-3feet wide) & want to grow about 10+ plants (probably 10-12). Are there any tubed lights that'll produce a decent yield without too much energy consumption or cost to buy?

If you don't know, but have info on how to grow large crops in smaller spaces (if that's even possible), let me know.

  2. Best lighting = The sun.
Best vegetative lighting = Metal Halide (MH) or T5 Fluorescent.
Best flowering lighting = High Pressure Sodium (HPS).

In your situation I would get a T5 fixture with both spectrum bulbs (~2500k and ~5500k) and switch out for my veg/flower cycles. Get some CFLs in there for supplemental light.

  3. Can you get T5s anywhere, or are they exclusively used for growing plants?
