Avast is really good. The built in security that comes with windows 7 is also surprisingly good. I used Avast back when I was on XP but have found windows security essentials to be more than adequate on my newer windows 7 machine that I built a couple years ago.

Every anti-virus program will tell you that the minute their protection is up. It's because they want you to give them money, so they tell you that you need them. Some programs will even claim you suddenly gained like 4 viruses ironically 4 seconds after your subscription has run out. If you had a virus, you'd know. Have no fear, your computer is probably fine.

honestly nortons been known to ruin computers. early in its day it ruined one of mine. i swear the best virus protection ive had has been free progams. the programs you have to pay for fuck shit up
avast and malware bytes one can do a boot time scan, which is nice one will rape viral infections in safe mode, which is also nice lol
