Best Camping Knife?

  1. What are your opinions for the best camping knife? I've had a swiss army for the longest time, but I lost it. :( Fell out of my bag last trip.

I'll probably be going camping soon, and I'm thinking of picking up a Multi-tool, most likely from Gerber. [IMG]

What type of knives do you guys use for camping? Everyone must have a nice pocketknife.

  2. Hey, they're sturdy as hell. :D

I'm thinking of just getting something really practical and quality made like this. Gerber is top notch.

  3. nah dude, if youre getting a multitool then gerber is great.

if you want a knife that will hold an edge for ages...your gonna buy a SOG. google them and check out their website, they have all types of sizes and functions. theyve been supplying the marines for years. good stuff.

  4. I'm just looking for a really well made, great overall knife that won't dull. Something that'll last and get the job done.

Sorry, I'm just serious when it comes to my camping equipment.

Try the K.I.S.S lineup. They make some great, durable fixed blade knives. It comes with cord to wrap the handle or hang the sheath around your neck. They last forever too. My uncle gave me the stiff K.I.S.S and a wetstone as a youngin. Learned how not to cut myself real fast lol..

  6. ha dont be sorry, im pretty sure you and i could talk equipment all day.

ive used different brands growing up, and SOG never has let me down. well worth the investment.

  7. my campin knifes are a 6 inch switch blade and a 5 inch butterfly knife

  8. Dude.... Camping with a Switchblade and a butterfly knife? I guess if it works for ya.. But isn't it somewhat impractical?

  9. ^^ a butterfly knife's sole purpose is to look cool. switchblades can be useful for one-handed quick opening.

  10. Aye lol, believe I've seen my fair share.

  11. I actually have a Winchester SWAT knife with a sprig loaded opening system. I payed about $60 bucks for it but its worth it. Also a great knife is a Buck can never go wrong with the power of the buck

  12. I just use whatever I have lying around. No point for me to waste money on

something like a pocketknife that I'm going to lose anyways. That's why the only

swiss army knives I own are the ones I got as gifts. The knife I'm most fond of is

just some 3 inch cheap locking blade that is cracked a bit in the handle and the blade

has an indent from previous owner who shot it with a pellet gun. Got it from a friend

when I was like 12. I've always liked it because it's real easy to flip the blade out.

  13. Leatherman has always worked for me. I always wanted a simple Case, just to have a pretty single blade on me, but they're way too expensive.

I know that the Gerbers are very good, but I've noticed that many of them use a lot of plastic parts, which always turns me off. An all-metal heavy duty Leatherman Supertool with an (included? Mine came with one) old-school snap leather case won't disappoint, and it'll last forever.

  14. i love my knives i like the big ones like 15inches..haha that sounded so gay

  15. leatherman wave ftw

  16. ^

    Sick Shocker! Is that yours?

  17. You can't beat a gerber multi-tool.
