    Trump campaign fundraising on Bernie Sanders's $6M haul

    Trump reelection campaign sent out a fundraising request on Wednesday citing Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) $6 million haul in the first 24 hours after his presidential campaign was announced.

    “Socialist Berne Sanders raised $6 MILLION in 24 HOURS. Now I’m calling on you to CRUSH that number,” Trump's campaign texted recipients, noting that any donation would be tripled

    Sanders’s haul smashed the $1.5 million Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-Calif.) presidential campaign raised in its first day, the previous record among 2020 Democrats. The number was powered through small donations from more than 225,000 people in all 50 states, averaging about $27.

    Sanders, who came in second in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, saw a strong grass-roots campaign in the previous cycle, powered in large part by small-dollar donations.

    While the senator's fundraising number raised eyebrows, Trump still sits on a hefty war chest, entering 2019 with more than $19 million in cash on hand.

    The president has been railing against what he says is the Democratic Party’s turn to socialism, citing the rising power of Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez(D-N.Y.), both self-proclaimed democratic socialists.

    His campaign took a swipe Tuesday at Sanders and the Democratic Party at large, saying the Vermont independent had already won because the rest of the primary field had adopted his brand of socialism.

  12. Wow dude, I don’t want to be your friend. Thanks. Not trying to be a douche but I don’t respect you. I’m convinced if the majority thinks like you our country and our children’s future are lost. I wish you horrible luck throughout your political endeavors.

  15. My guess is Trump will out raise Bernie by far. All the big dogs always give to both campaigns to cover their asses no matter who gets elected. But why would a big business give to Bernie if they will be taxed at a 100% increase and be giving away millions if he is elected? Besides Trump crushed Bernie in donations of 200 or less last cycle 3to1

    Here is the breakdown of how much each candidate received from small donors, according to the Campaign Finance Institute's report:

    • Trump received about $239 million from donors who gave less than $200 in total. That amounts to 69 percent of the Trump campaign’s individual contributions;

    • Hillary Clinton received about $137 million from $200-or-under donors. That made up 22 percent of the campaign’s individual contributions;

    • Bernie Sanders received about $100 million, or 44 percent of his campaign’s individual contributions.
    Trump raised more dollars from small donations

    Are you a chief? Cause boy you can cook some numbers. The numbers you stated included joint fundraising committees. What is a joint fundraising committee?

    Joint fundraising is fundraising conducted jointly by a political committee and one or more other political committees or unregistered organizations. The rules described apply to political committees and unregistered organizations engaged in joint fundraising.

    So the figures without joint fundraising committees:

    Here’s a breakdown of how much each campaign raised from donors who gave $200 or less, without the help of the joint fundraising committees, according to FEC reports:

    • Trump raised $86.6 million, or 64 percent of the campaign’s total individual contributions.

    • Obama in 2012 raised $234.4 million, or 42 percent of the campaign’s total individual contributions.

    • Sanders raised $134.6 million, or 58 percent of the campaign’s total individual contributions.

    • Clinton raised $105.5 million, or 26 percent of the campaign’s total individual contributions.
