I just wanted to see what yall Think about this. Me an my Husband watch a lot of of Action Movies Together an in a lot of them they are Crooked Cops up to one kind of No Good or another lol. Do you guys think this is common irl like it is in the Movies? I never had a Problem with the Law/Police like my Sociopath Brother do an I Try to be Respectful to the Cops all the Times but I still have a Fear that some How a a Crazy Cop will chose me to Asssault or Rape or w/e Someday if im out an Around. I was Wondering if this kind of stuff Happens a lot in America or no? ~Toni~
I would say sure there are crooked cops but I think they are likely smart enough to target and extort people that put themselves in positions to not be able to say something about it. Basically I would say don't get caught doing something super illegal and you won't have to find out if a given cop is crooked or not

Even the ones who don't murder people still extort money out of people for victimless crimes with the threat of imprisonment and violence. Those are the "good" ones. The bad ones assault people, plant drugs, murder, etc. And there's plenty of those too. The worst thing is they get a slap on the wrist most of the time where if a normal person would completely have their life ruined. All studies show domestic violence among cops being way higher too.
lol yeah GTA parodies American culture and stereotypes with everyone. GTA 4 cops weren't too bad though. GTA 5 you talk to them and they shoot you.
Yea I understand that lol Well in GTA 4 Frank Mcreary was a Crooked Cop tho lol. GTA San Andreas had them too with Sargent Tenpenny an Officer Pulaski. I heard that those 2 were Based off some Real Life Bad Cops that were in California in the 90s until they got Busted. ~Toni~
It's becoming hard to find politically correct bad guys but cops are still safe targets for the movies. IRL there's good and bad cops. They just can't be trusted.
@Dizzy if you are asking the question in the spirit i think you are - getting a perspective of the "average joe" on the street - my opinion is, who we all should fear is a judge in the court system. seems to me that a judge can ruin your life a lot worse than a cop. i've found the best situation is what was mentioned previously, dont get in a situation where leo is potentially going to be involved, but if you need someone to help you in a bad situation where you're the victim a cop is very likely be the first person you want to have show up and get your fanny out of a sling, i.e. help you out.
Yea Possuum I Believe that Most The Police are good an Honest...An I really appreciate what they do Trying to keep Order an stop The really Bad People out there. My Whole Question was tho is like I worry about that Small % that Maybe evil I worry about encountering them but yea like you said i'm not one of those People that always involved with The Law my self an I never even been Arrested once...I plan to Keep it that way. When I was a teen we had a cop that would sell us weed he confiscated or got from the property room, while he was visiting the chop shop. So no, they are all perfectly honest.
Most cops are ok..Just like you and me. They only abuse their power like any of us might. In the end they want to do good and have families etc. I got to say... I would not want to be one in todays world.
I always hear about how bad todays world is - and honestly scratch my head wondering whats so bad about it. We grow more food per acre, way less people go hungry and most live pretty damn comfortable lives. We dont have to scrub our clothes on washboards. We can put our food in refrigerators. Cars are just a touch better than they were early 1900’s. Slavery was abolished. You can go to Borneo for vacation. We figured out how to put insulation in our walls. Al Capone and his boys arent shooting up Chicago - we arent being fed to lions, tortured in the name of religion or fighting to the death in an arena for peoples amusement. I suppose I could go on? j
If you put a thousand cops in a room or a thousand priests who would you trust more? Now pretend you’re an alter boy. I’ll take cops any day. Bottom line, there’s good and bad in every profession. If you’re interacting with cops, give respect and get respect. Regardless of how offended you might feel if a cop has an attitude your job is to make the encounter as brief and uncomplicated as possible.
