I have petri dish, I have agar powder.

If I was to take a liquid sample from, say ‘Microbial Mass and grow in a petri dish, would I be able to cultivate those beneficial bacteria in the petri dish without bad bacteria forming, if to assume everything was done sanitarily? Would this work?

    Ideas, advice?

How are you gonna tell the difference between Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter jejuni, and Listeria monocytogene, either way you will need a microscope and a big ass air pump, thats the noobs biggest mistake drowning his new born bacts

of better consideration is KNF or Korean Natural Farming start small and is much fun

    good luck

  3. I edited the question to a more specific product. Is your answer still valid in terms of ecoli, salmonella, etc. growing in the dish?

  4. Do it and let us know.
DO a quick review on streaking method so you get isolated cultures.
Usually the agar has a food source also, like sheep or horse blood, or lung and heart, for human pathogens.
Not sure what the beneficial bacteria are that you are trying to cultivate- google it for the food substrate.

  5. Thanks. Bacillus spp. if my target species and they do require fermented foods or raw vegetables. The Agar I have is extracted from Gelidium Sesquipedale which is in the red algae group.
