Beginner with space issues!! (White widow)

  1. Hi guys,
im a bit of a novice with a green graduation present growing in my cupboard (i think i deserve it!). I've spent a lot of time reading up on growing and i think i'm having pretty good success at the mo...my main aim really is juct to grow 2or 3 nice plants and get enough to smoke for a while; not expecting much for my first time but it is great fun.

I think its going well but i have a few major concerns and questions...if anyone could help it would be much appreciated!!

I've got ...only 125W growlight, quality potting compost, 10 white widow nirvana seeds and a computer fan setup on 5 minute bursts. My cupboard is 3 ft by 2ft but only 2 ft high (to the light).
All ten growing well and been in veg growth for nealry 3 weeks now, tallest plant is 20 cm rest between 10-15.
All 10 are planted with the idea of starting to flower them all and picking 2 or 3 and sadly chopping the rest. My pots are still relatively small 10cm diameter.

    2 main questions,

    1. When i go into flowering what size should i expect? I only just read that they sometimes triple in size and you guys recommended only 10 days veg!! As i said im not in it to make loads just wanna be sucessful really...so i thought i would just use the 125w for flowering too as the space already gets quite hot! Can i control size with the pot size??

    2. Should i go straight to flowering now? Are there any ways to stopping too much vertical growth??

Any advice would be great, i'm thouroughly enjying myself but as its my first tie im learning alot on the way. I've only spent about 60US dollars so its been cheap too!!!

    cheers

  2. Hi Roots' -

I've got exaclty the same situation as my grow space is about the same as yours (see my grow journal titled First Grow - Magic Bud, Soil under Flouro for the full story). I'm managing a Micro/Mini grow in a very small space under a large table in my study.

Some of the guys on this forum have helped me to understand the principle of Low Stress Training (LST) and this is an excellent way to minimise height but increase the volume of bud produced - read Dierwolf's sticky on it (excellent).

The other method you could use is SCROG (screen of green) which essentially means you train the plant to grow horizontally through a mesh screen (like chicken wire). It's an excellent method and worth a look at - search for 'SCROG' or 'scrog' and you'll find loads of other people using this method.

As to the two specific questions you ask - I'm no expert so I'll leave it to others to answer these!

    Hope this still helps!
