I've always had a fascination on growing Marijuana as a hobby and I've had a project where I only used CFL's to grow a couple plants which ended in complete failure due to my optimism when it came to watering too much while using MiracleGro as a source of soil.  :confused_2:

But this time around I'm looking to make a bigger grow operation and I was wondering which would be the best bang for my buck if I were to spend lets say $2,000 and $5,000. And how much should I expect to yield? I'm very interested in the SCROG setup also!  :hello:

  2. I think if you had the space to fill with $5,000 worth of equipment, you won't need to scrog.. It would be helpful if you gave us your grow area dimensions and what kind of electrical circuits you have dedicated. Can't tell you to run 5000 watts HID/HPS if you are only on a 15amp circuit (common), when each 1k pulls about 8 amps.

  3. ^^^ the size of the room is most important
That determines the size of the exhaust fan you need plus a lot of other things. You don't want to spend 2k and fail let alone 5k

This is mostly a guess from knowledge I've gathered over time

5x5x8 tent- 200 cubic feet you want a full room air cycle every 5 minutes or so at the very least. Temp also plays a factor in it. My 3x3x7 needs a 480cfm (cubic feet per minute) to keep the temp at 70 with a 400w

But a 5x5 tent, scrog, Co2 system, humidifier/dehumidifier, and a 1k bulb could pull a pounder with a pro at the helm.

Start with your space, design a ventilation system. (Google "air fluid dynamics") with that then you choose your medium, weather it be hydro, soil, soilless etc etc along with pot/bucket size. Then you want to match a larger bucket with a larger light system. otherwise you are wasting space and energy. Do a dry run for a few days for temp and humidity control
