So for those of us who can't go to college for whatever reason but still want to be scientists, what can we do? You don't need to be a college student to buy text books from a college bookstore that's a start but its expensive. Web browsing is nice but it's difficult to find all the information on a given subject from a credible source. Especially for higher level stuff. Not to mention know what yo search for is a pain. Idk about the.library I'm sure its a good start. What are your thoughts? There is a sticky here with some good advice on the subject I enjoyed the read. pot head atheist gamer with no job. judge me.
What do you mean, exactly? Do you just want to do experiments, or are you looking to have a career in some form of research? If the former, self-teaching is relatively easy - the main expenses would come from buying the equipment to do the experiments. If the latter, good luck... Why can't you go to college?
That literally had me loling, just picturing the op doing some weird home experiments in a lab coat On a serious note, as mentioned; what do you mean exactly? Are you seeking knowledge & understanding or you want the actual position of a scientist of some sort? Pretty sure youll never get a job as a scientist without a degree, so you can just lie about having a degree, its worked for other people

That's about as close as you'll get without a degree. There aren't even really enough jobs in the field for all the people that hold Ph.D.s

This pretty much - the exceedingly rare exception would be if you somehow made a name for yourself in the scientific community through some huge home experiment discovery, and even still it's just so unlikely. As an unrelated side note, wakarimashita ka

I had to drop out because my dad stopped paying my tuition and don't qualify for any aid. In the near future I hope to get a private loan once my credit has improved and get into a community college. pot head atheist gamer with no job. judge me.
"bankioshiteimassita" wa benkyou shimashita desu ka. nihongo wa amari hanashimasen, tadashi daigaku o benkyou shimashita (soon) I wish you the best of luck, man - unfortunately college is practically a necessity these days. If you can get your foot in the door and do well, apply for scholarships and those will help a great deal.
If you're looking for information, there is a TON of information at coursera.com. I'll repost something I posted earlier today. This is basically the equivalence to a Masters in CS but without the history/horseshit/culture/english classes. They have the same kind of classes for other fields, like biology, ecomonics, neuroscience and chemistry. I'm not sure they're as extensive as the CS courses they offer. Also, these are virtual classes given by respected colleges for FREE. Take advantage of it. Ya know... I am also a pothead atheist, sometimes gamer... but you putting that at the end of every post just makes me think that you're only trying to start drama over it. Which seems pretty immature.
Hey man, you can go onto iTunes and go into the store and click iTunes U. That will open up a ton of audio and/or video courses from universities across the world that you can download and watch/listen to. A lot of them are pretty legit, just gotta look through everything!
scientist-a person who studies or practices any of the sciences or who uses scientific methods. You can be a scientist without having a degree..now if you want o be a paid scientist..there might be a difference haha..but theres tons of different sciences. I would want to do social experiments, i think they;re cool and expose things about our society.
Well, yeah. I think what it is is the app's signature feature. There's a couple of other people who have crap show up at the bottom of their posts, without fail, every single time they post. It just doesn't get bumped down into the signature section, and appears to us like they're writing it each time. Still pointless as hell, nonetheless.
