Becoming nervous while/after smoking

    I'm 18 and just started smoking. I just did it about 10 times - most of them alone at home. However, I cant really relax on Weed. My heart beats rellay fast for the first 10 to 30 minutes after smoking. Most of the time I get nervous and sometimes a little bit panic. I always try to calm down and relax, breath deep and just let go, but it doesnt work most of the times. Its not about the real weed effects - I like them and always try to enjoy'em. I guess my problem is to let go. It just doesnt work at all. I start to overanalyze the effects and run into thoughts about dumb shit. The fast heart beat really pisses me on and makes me kinda scared. 
    Even when I smoke with friends, I cant really let go and enjoy.
    It had been maybe 3 cool times where I could enjoy the high a bit. 
    I'm sure its all about me. Had several sorts of weed, and experienced mostly the same effects at each one of them.
    The fear of getting caught is not that big anymore. I know where I can smoe at home without the chance of anyone noticing.
    Overdosing is not the case also. I know how that feels. Usually I just smoke one small head in my metal pipe. Thats it. If I do so, usually the effects stay for about 2 hours and then theyre fully away.
     
    Normally, Weed should slow you down and relax you, right? And not bring a fast heart beat and making you feel uncomfortable^^
     
    Any advice what I should do, to finally enjoy the highs? I dont want to give up on Weed; I want to have it as a nice addon to my freetime.

  2. I had similar effects the first few times i first started smoking man. I found that a) Vaping is a nicer, cleaner high in that respect...for me anyways i found that it eliminated any of what little negative effects weed has on me recently and  b ) Don't sweat it man, your body is coming under the influence of a foreign substance, no matter how natural and un-invasive weed is as a substance- you're still setting a plant on fire and inhaling the smoke that comes off it. It's gonna feel "weird" to some degree.

    The sooner you get your head around the fact that being stoned is a bit of a "trip" the more you will enjoy your high :)
     
  3. Weed has different effects on people. You got to learn to relax and enjoy man. I can understand the first time being paranoid, heart beating, etc, but maybe you're having panic attacks i don't know??
     
  4. I say keep trying different strains until you experience a better high. I'd like to call myself a seasoned toker and I find that higher grade mids produce the best high without making me a nonfunctional stoner. Most reggie/brick weeds that I encounter make me nervous and paranoid.
     
    Try a higher quality strain. You don't have to go overboard either, And if You're smoking serious "dank" then step it down a notch. Being too high can cause those feelings also.
     
  5. Sounds pretty normal for a new smoker man, those feelings will subside over time. Your getting way too baked obviously, Try half your normal amount and see how it goes. Feel no shame in a group when you feel you have reached your limit. Just because they are still going doesn't mean you have to. Sometimes being in a group can bring on more paranoia as well.
     
    When alone experiment a little with your doses, find your zone,throw on headphones, chill and enjoy.
     
     
    (Side note: After all my years of smoking/vaping I still get like that occasionally. Thinking too much and just too baked.)
     
  6. Agree with soufpaw. Theres different effects with different strains. Spend a little more and get strains with legitamite names and compare. To let you know since your a newbie hydro is not a name, just the way its grown. Mostly whatever bag seed someone found. Another thing is to think positive after you smoke. Theres never been an overdose on cannabis. Just take a deep breath and think happy thoughts, lol. Thatll set you on a nice shiney high. Dont worry about people knowing your stoned or be on the lookout for cops or that crap. Just get to a carefree state of mind and your good to go

Just to let you know as well.. if you here from a legit source that someones got a certain type of strain- you can google it and find out its effects, what things its good for, how bad the side effects are (cotton mouth, munchies) if its more of a social strain for daytime use, or more of a nightime strain - couchlock.
     
  8. Same thing happened to me too, I mean the first time wasn't that intense i guess, but when i smoked a lot one day, I got so high my whole world around me was transformers man. And I was reminding my friend to remind me to breath haha, now i look back and laugh.
    Just back off from controlling the high, let it take you where its taking you, let the sub-conscious express and enjoy everything around you, peace.

    As far as getting over the anxiety. You need to remember weed does increase your heart rate so that's normal. If you're afraid of a heart attack or the like just remember when you exert yourself physically your heart goes 4x as fast and as hard compared to the effect weed will have on it so you're fine. You need to remind yourself that noone has died, noone has gone crazy, noone has ever become permanently high it will go away. Weed has about 0 risk factors unless you have severe asthma or a bad heart condition. Just relax and focus on the sensations that feel good. Close your eyes and imagine a quiet comfortable place and take a deep breath and let it out slow. Do this over and over until you can open your eyes and feel centered and comfortable.
     
  10. I try to think of how weed magnifies emotions and how its not worth it to "sketch out" and kill your high. I try to prepare everything so there is no evidence by getting everything together (hand sanitizer, gum, cologne, visine etc.) and that way if anyone who could be suspicious tries and talk to you, you will have the comfort of knowing all common "stoned" signs are gone
