What tips do you have regarding beatmatching by ear ? I rely mostly on the wave forms that my software displays but it's a fact that using your ear is one of the most important skills.

To practice, I cover all the bpm counters/wave forms on my screen and try to match the sounds but I find it really difficult, got trouble telling which song is faster unless it's really obvious.

    Thanks in advance guys

  2. I usually also rely on the waveforms. Being able to see a visual representation of what I'm hearing simultaneaously helps a bunch. Although, when it comes to relying soley on your ears, I find that it helps to close your eyes and focus on only what you hear without letting your eyes trick you into hearing what you see, If that makes any sense lol. Just my opinion, but I tend to pick up on most imperfections that way. Cheers!

I have a general idea of what bpms a track can be. I know hardstyle is 150 while house can be ~128. I try playing a song on my head who's bpm I know and work from there.
