If what you're meaning is an thing that creates drum patterns on rap/terchno etc. records you're talking about drum machines and such.... the easiest way to make your own beats is to make them via Fruity loops and then chance the sounds and effect them etc. from other sources. or you could get and groovebox wich has a drum machine and severasl synths plus some usable effects and you can play it trough guitar pedals.
