Beaker Bottom vs Straight Tube W/Perc

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Acedia31, Jan 27, 2011.

  1. Hello Grasscity! This is my second post here, and as I've only been partaking in the wonderful herb for about six months I thought that I would ask you guys for help in the struggle I am having in making the purchase decision for my next bong (I bought a cheap, but actually rather nice bong on etsy *forgive me if mentioning the sites where a bong is purchased is against forum rules*)

I am torn between getting a beaker bottom bong or a straight tube with a perc in it. I have questions about them and would be greatly obliged if you guys could answer them.

Does the added water of the beaker bottom serve a noticeable effect?
Does a perc serve a noticeable effect?
Does the perc give more time for the hit to "build" resulting in a newb such as myself overdrafting?
Are beaker bottoms more prone to breaking due to the rounded base?
Is it possible to simply buy a perc/ashcatcher for a beaker, or are they blown such as one brand does not work with another?

Also if possible could anyone lead me to some quality sites where such items may be purchased? As well as what brands you recommend. (unless this violates forum rules)

Thanks in advance for the help and I'm looking to spend around $250.

  2. I got a bong with a beaker bottom and a perc for $175, and this thing hits well and is smooth but I haven't hit other types of bongs often enough to compare the difference between straight and with no perc. I'm sure you'll be straight and be able to pick up some nice glass if you have $250 to spend.

  3. Yeah, I'm just looking to see how everything compares. Although I will be the one who holds on to this bong, it's a present for a friend who introduced me to smoking.

  4. I've never heard anybody use the term "overdraft" before. What's that mean exactly?

  5. I have every thing you listed in my bong and I love it cost a shit more then 250. Check avatar
