Is getting a bong with a beaker bottom just preference? only reason im asking is cause im going to buy a RooR for a bday present to myself.
Yeah, its preference. a beaker has more volume for the smoke. I like straight tubes just because of the elegance
I myself am all about the beaker bottom... it just looks more classically "bong" to me, if that makes any sense hahah
beakers +have more capacity +are (imo) more aesthetically pleasing -may be thin (blown out) -unrepairable if you break the beaker -may have a bit of drag, depending on the specific beaker it's mostly personal preference though. i love beakers way more than straights.
I bought a beaker bong on New Years and am in love with it. I like it because the bottom is more stable since it sits on the carpet behind my hi-hat stand.
Screw beaker bottoms. Straight tubes all the way. Even for the best blower it is impossible to make the beaker the same thickness all the way around. This creates weak points in the glass because of the high and low points of thickness.
If I may add my input, you won't know until you try them both--It's purely personal preference. Many people like beakers more, many people like tubes more, including myself. To me, it's an aesthetic appeal more than anything else.. to each his own, ya know?
They're not unrepairable. Blowers usually turn them into inlines or straight tubes. I prefer straight tubes. Compared to most of you I have weak little bitch lungs. I couldn't handle most of the crazy milk shot rips people post up. Most beakers are too much volume imo. I do like the skinnier beakers by us tubes and wicked sands though.
I agree with what glassgenius said (not sure about repairs though..) Beakers have more volume, IMO they look cooler. IMO they also have more drag. It's up to you though. You won't be disappointed in either!
LOOOOOL! That isnt to say that straight milks arnt impressive... I like straight tubes more tho; beakers have drag and use 10x more water. plus straight tubes are easier to clean ^_^
I like my RooR straight for use with Da Buddha. I like beakers to smoke out of. I'm not sure where I stand on beaker-vs-straight for perced tubes, though.
I wouldn't call it drag per se. It's not caused by any restriction, but by an abundance of space. It just takes more effort to clear a larger volume.
I wouldnt say that. A straight tube with the same volume would probably clear faster because of the path that the smoke must take. In a beaker, it can swirl around in the beaker bottom before it actually goes up the tube, while a straight shot is essentially shooting it into your lungs.
It only swirls around when the airflow is restricted by a push hole. Once the slide is out the effect of any swirling is negligible imo.. if you've got a GonG tight seal and even average lung power all the air is going straight up the tube no matter the shape.
Mostly preference, apart from slighlty increased drag but more water capacity, I used to like beaker bottoms, but now straight tubes look the shit to me
I wouldnt say that. Unless the downstem bubbles directly underneath the bore, its going to have movement around the actual beaker. lol i started both the last posts by "i wouldnt say that" nice >_>
I was just gonna point that out... but... I wouldn't say that... LOL. Yeah... you're definitely right about the position of the downstem. I didn't factor that in at all. Only a person who could generate equal pull over the horizontal plane of the bore could make the smoke move perfectly vertically. That's probably unattainable consistency.
