Is there a battery backup thing that would be strong enough to power my 400hps for 16 hours? I was thinking that if I could get something like that, perhaps 2 of them, I could just bring 1 with me to work every day and let it charge there. This would not be a problem at all. Money is not too much of an issue. Pretty much like a device that can transport massive amounts of power.
It's not the money that's an issue, I just want to minimize my electricity consumption as much as possible. I know everyone says, "dont worry jusy pay yout bill and dont go nuts and youll be fine" but its the 1 thing that just gets under my skin, going from 100 kwh a month to 250. Everything is completely stealth in the broadest sense of the word. Except this electric spike Im gonna see on my next bill. I KNOW 100 to 250 is chump change to them but I still cant stop thinking about it.
Try a bank of marine cell batteries attached to a power inverter. Like they do for solar systems. Just brainstorming here.
Battery Backups are not backups per say. They give you enough juice so you can properly shut down. Thats it. Most of the APS Backups come with software that you install so you can automate it. To get 16 hours of juice out of a UPS you would have to spend in the thousands. There giant rack mounted ones as well. At work all the UPS are APCs the ones that go under a desk they give about 8-10 min of battery backup so we can like I said properly shut down without a loss of data. As for transporting it. A rack mounted UPS takes almost 2 people to lift. Larger would required a fork lift.
Average house is 4-5KW in the US. Your using a 400w HPS. What happens if you bought a gaming computer? My gaming computer has a 1.2kw power supply. LCD 100 watts. 2.1 Surround sound another 200w. They could care less dude about your power consumption if your paying it. What they would only notice is if you went to say like 10kw loads or 15kw. Even then if you can pay they do not care as the whole system is automated nowadays. The meters are not even read by humans anymore. Its sent electronically and your electronically generated a bill. Back in the day your local powerman would read your meter. So if in his little book it said your using say 2kw loads but then when he reads it it says 10kw. Hes like WTF. Well technology has eliminated his job so no more WTF. Even your water usage is electronically read and transmitted.
Battery Back-up is save of the computer data when gone light or off light. Battery Back-up is one type of power saver. Battery Back-up is connected to the inverter.
