BASS PLAYERS/VOCALISTS IN LOS ANGELES

Discussion in 'The Musician in U' started by NativeSoundz, Jan 29, 2014.

  1. We're driven to start a new project and I need you. Right now the lineup consists of a dope ass drummer and two groovin guitarists. We're in need of a bassist and a strong male vocal, but at the moment a bass player is our priority (nothing against female vox if the shoe fits).

    Our ideal candidate:

    - You should be very comfortable on stage as well as in the studio.
    - You must own your own equipment and be willing to pitch in on rent for a rehearsal space
    - You must have your own car, truck, van, hovercraft,or spaceship.
    - You must have a schedule that we can work with.
    - You must be willing to tour
    - Above all, you must have the willingness and drive to do something great, be open-minded and really be in love with writing and performing music.

THIS IS NOT A GROUP OF DUDES WHO ARE TRYING TO HAVE A JAM BAND. We all have 10+ years recording and performance experience.
We are serious musicians looking to begin a long journey together. This includes regular shows, lots of studio time and in the future we would like to tour the country (and the world, but let's write some songs first shall we?)

We are all based in the Los Angeles area.

As far as our "sound" goes, we all come from different backgrounds and here are some of our influences at the moment:

    Deftones
    Radiohead
    The Mars Volta
    Thrice
    Jason Isbell
    Karnivool
Thomas Pridgen (drummer for The Memorials, ex-Mars Volta)
    NIN
    Grizzly Bear
    Periphery

here's an old vid of our drummer at the Guitar Center drum-off 2012

and a heavy track with the same drummer and myself on guitar.

Feel free to check out any of my other music on my soundcloud. the song "My Love Has Left Me" is the most recent track from my current band Rosechild.

and GrassCitys's own blade Kiefsweat collaborated with me on "Lying Near the River", a haunting duet we did via email :)

We're not looking to be a "genre-specific" band. Everyone will have the same input during the writing process, this will be OUR band, not a single person's idea. The links I've provided are to give insight but are in no way a representation of the music that we will create together.

If you are interested send me a PM and link me to any videos or recordings of you playing.

Share with your friends please and I hope this message finds you well. I look forward to hearing from you!!

I quit Send More Cops for college, and to be honest I got tired of playing heavy metal...it wasn't me. But I did it because I liked playing music, and when I was in highschool. It was either play in a metal band, or play by yourself.

But now if I were to get in a band again. I like bands like Dance Gavin Dance, A Lot Like Birds, Fall Of Troy, Protest The Hero etc. I gravitate more towards bands with heavy instruments, but softer melodic vocals. I think screaming/growling should be using sparingly if at all.

I can play anything, but I was taught jazz/funk style.

I'm from the desert and the whole scene was nothing but hardcore n metal mostly. I completely agree with your taste in music man, I love really heavy grooves with a clean vocal. I can't get enough of the deftones man. Listen to their song Leathers off their newest album I'm sure you'll dig it~ fly with the wind ~
