So I work for a guitar shop taking photos and editing them for their website, and the boss has repeatedly offered to me that I can pick something from the shelves for my own and he could mark the price down and work for the guitar out of my paycheck.. I have been in need of a bass for a while and I think I'm ready to start playing again and have been eyeballin a Jackson CMG Concert bass for a while and I'm really liking it. I'm not well versed in music or gear so any input would be great.
It doesn't really sound like that great a deal to me. I prefer the cash. It always fits and If I get bored with it I can exchange it for anything.
I have a guitar and bass and I gotta say, guitar is 10X more fun man. So many diff styles of playing, plus singing while playing is super fun (even tho my singing sucks ha) And you get bitches easily

Clarification - I would still be making cash, the money for the bass would come out of the time I manage his facebook for the company
Will he give it to you wholesale/at cost? I ran it by my husband who is an avid guitar player/buyer and he thought you could easily get screwed if the owner doesn't knock the price down to his cost. He'll still be making a PROFIT off of you---it's like you're paying him for the privilege of working for him. If you're just starting out, look for the same model used on craigslist or ebay. There's a glut of guitarists, but not so with bassists. Get the bass! Girls love bassists! Actually, girls love drummers, singers, cow bell ringers...Get the picture?
